A year's a long time away, he could have a long-term injury or have had a particularly bad season, or Barca could have stumbled across someone awesome who plays a similar role, or ran out of money. Or the player could have changed his mind. Putting a delay on the transfer at least gives the chance for something to happen that lets Arsenal hold onto him.

Oh, is Scaly still not here, I'm just guessing because he isn't ranting about Arse's piss-easy CL group. He'd have a point, TBH.

Group G, 20 European titles
Group H, 0 European titles
pretty happy with our(Ajax) group...if we want to lose...if we want to win it are just great names on the boards.

Have a feeling Ajax can surprise a lot of people...Suarez and El Hamedeoui are two fantastic strikers, Maarten Stekelenburg is one of the best goalkeepers in the world atm...
it's just our defense that worries me....a lot.
Personally hoping AC Milan has two off days against us and well Auxerre is defintely doable.

You said he was a better option than Agger...Agger only plays LB or CB and had been recently used in Aurelio's position (LB, sometimes LM and very little CM). The only position those two have shared is LB; what were you referring to?
So confused as to what you're on about. I like Aurelio at LB.

Ok, let's go through it:

I like Aurelio on the left-hand side, a better option than Agger for mine

is what you said. Now, the only place Agger has played on the left is LB. So, by that sentence it seems you are inferring Aurelio played as a LB last night because you are juxtaposing him with Agger.

The problem is...Aurelio didn't play LB last night...he played as LM. And you were talking about last night.

What is your problem? I'll repeat - my sentences were separate thoughts crunched into a paragraph. It was a general statement. I brought Aurelio up, because he played in the game. In the future, I'll be sure to structure my posts into paragraphs to help you along.

Can only laugh at whoever thinks Ngog is better than Babel after this morning's performance.

Very scratchy from the lads, but I thought we did enough to progress.

Would just love another centre forward or attacking midfielder before the end of the month.

...meanwhile overnight, we've signed Konchesky and Meireles. I'm unsure of their pass-completion numbers over the last five years, but hopefully they'll be good additions to the club.

Still looking for that frontman though Roy. :(

I really hate clubs who give into the players stunts by refusing to play because they won't get their dream transfer. Make them persona non grata, by not playing a single game and ban them training with the first team until their contract expires, until they personally apologise. What club will want you have a couple of years on the sidelines? If you didn't want to stay at the club, you shouldn't have signed that contract extension.

Spineless IMO.

Thought he was fairly impressive at WC, will be a good addition imo.

LOL, is it so hard to admit you made a mistake?

You were clearly talking about the game and gave observations about the game. One which was just wrong. He did play in the game...just not for Agger or as an LB. Moving on.

He was very good in the WC...probably better than he has been anywhere else. I hope he keeps that standard. Not a bad player to get for 10.7m. The bad thing with being brought in for Masch is that pretty much every other destroyer out there can't touch him and it's always going to be a downgrade.

As for Konchesky. It's a bit of a joke. Fulham get Salcido...and we're getting him.

An interesting story is developing that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be in Milan so they can present him as their new signing. It will be a loan with the right to buy. So to raise funds for the transfer, Klass-Jan Huntelaar is reportedly in talks with Tottenham and Schalke. Although Barcelona are threatening legal action against Ibra's agent Mino Raiola (he also represents Mario Balotelli), for breach of contract after Raiola attacked Guardiola, by blaming the manager for the transfer (full story).

Much easier said than done tbh. There's no way a club would be willing to have a player on £70k a week sat on the bench and not playing, particularly when his market value is likely to be around £15m or so, an amount which could be spent on buying a replacement or strengthening other areas of the team. In the event that this ever did actually happen, as you have already pointed out after a few years the players' market value would have plummetted and he would probably leave on a free. Either way the club is going to lose out on a lot of money/on pitch performance by taking such an approach. Though I agree with the principle that something should perhaps be done to stop this player power, this sort of approach really is a cutting your nose off to spite your face type thing.

Yeah, whilst it might sound good for the clubs to get a bit of their own back, in no way would it really be of their own benefit. It's not like they don't bring it onto themselves to a certain extent anyway imo with all the tapping up of players they do.

I realise all of that, and I agree. The rant is more directed at the ****s who decide that to get a transfer they will go AWOL or refuse to play. It's more Mascherano's level of professionalism that got my rant going.

Don't know why Barca need Mascherano, it's hardly an area they are weak in.

I suppose he is better than Busquets, considerably better I would say, but at the same time, I agree it is hardly an area they are weak in. But then again, they are't really weak in any area.

Arsenal looking a bit shaky so far, Blackburn clearly trying to get after Koscielny, hope he's up to the test.
