Seems like Farhat and Butt are good enough that they don't need any practice what so ever...one knows that Umar Amin will be dropped for Mo Yo...Kamran Akmal should not be in this team as he is not going to be selected for next test hence its stupid for him to be playing in this..The whole top order of Pak should have been there...its a stupid team imo...

Maybe they're thinking about Kamran playing as a batsman only. His record over the past 4-5 years is comparable with any of the batsmen (except the two older campaigners on the naughty step) and wicket-keeping (even doing it badly) does generally negatively effect batting in Test cricket.

This was the most hilarious interview i have ever seen...i don't know how Naseer Hussain kept his laughter out...

I have a feeling Ajmal is a bit of a mental case..he was trying to speak English in Punjabi!

Maybe they're thinking about Kamran playing as a batsman only. His record over the past 4-5 years is comparable with any of the batsmen (except the two older campaigners on the naughty step) and wicket-keeping (even doing it badly) does generally negatively effect batting in Test cricket.

Well, as a batsman would not be a good idea IMO. I think they should try Hameed..Kamran must be kept for limited overs only.....Haider is a the man for tests and i think he has shown good temperament for his 88...If they want a batsman, they must try Hameed. They should drop Umar Amin and put Hameed there. In Hameed, Yousuf, and Malik we have at least some spine in the middle order..then Haider and Amir can prove to be stubborn...

But then again..this is Pakistan. Anything could happen..who knows Akmal might return and Haider dropped for the next test...which would be heart breaking for all Pak fans.

Surprised that Hameed has such a poor domestic record, especially given the kind of docile pitches these pakistani players play on back home. And even more surprising for someone of his talent IMO.

I dont think K. Akmal should be let anywhere close to the side as a keeper or a specialist batsman.

Are the pitches that docile though? You have a lot of seam bowlers with quite low averages in FC cricket in Pakistan.

Perhaps not, though when the likes of Butt and Farhat have 40+ averages in FC cricket and look all at sea against the moving ball at the international level, you'd suspect that they are either really flat or the bowling is really bad.

I wouldn't call an avg of 37 odd rather poor but certainly at par...he has scored around 7.5k runs along with 135 games....i don't find it that bad tbh.

However, the cricinfo profile puts things into perspective rather well as far as his test batting is concerned. He is a better bat then most of our top order batsmen test average wise...its all politics that has kept him out of the team for so long....

hes on a long list of names including Asim Kamal and Fawad Alam that really should be playing in the current test side but have been left out due to politics. Alam averages in the 40s in both tests and ODIs (despite being forced to bat out of place for the large part), while Kamal played with his country's heart on his sleeve whenever I saw him.
