Jeeez, Australia must be sweating now!

Bring on the ASHES! Ricky P. easily can be the ONLY Aussie skipper to have lost 3 Ashes ;)
Another way of thinking is this is a great way to give the Poms some false confidence. If anything, the return series after this summer will be a world of pain for the Australian team, as it's been proven in the past few weeks how well England play, and how badly Australia play, in these conditions.

Oh really? I seem to remember seeing Hameed in the tour party for the Australia series and don't recall him being sent home. Must have been an error either with cricinfo or my memory.
Oops - apologies; my illiteracy. Hameed is in the tour party, but is not the back-up keeper.

Beggars can't be choosers, really. I'd wager a scarecrow with keeping gloves has a better chance at completing a regulation runout.

I'm guessing he is extremely part time with his keeping, otherwise his batting should get him straight in, over Akmal.
CricketArchive suggests he's kept wicket twice in senior cricket, first in The Home of CricketArchive, where he took two catches but conceded nine byes, then again seven years later against Essex in a tour game - The Home of CricketArchive. Another nine byes, and a catch. Doesn't look too much cop.

What a poor use of the referral system there.
I can't believe Prior wasn't aware that it was heading down: you know as a keeper where the ball is going, because it's where your hands and head have gone to catch the ball when the batsman misses it, You can see Prior jerk his head back from outside leg stump as part of the appeal process: a little bit simple-minded, really. Amir keeping it nice and simple and demonstrating that, contrary to the opinions of those who thought 6/17 was acceptable this morning, it is actually possible to score runs out there.

Wouldn't be England if they didn't piss about against the tail.

Anderson usually runs through them if it's swinging and he's took wickets already, but other than that once a series event it's a bit of a problem. Can't expect a finger spinner to knock them over quickly.

I didn't think it was acceptable, but rather understandable. Conditions are very difficult out there, the ball is moving about and the combination of the two new balls today made things a lot harder. Surely the initial economy rates of the two teams said something, as well as the sudden ease experienced (here, and by Morgan/Collingwoood) when the new ball got a bit older.

Ramiz Raja has no idea about how long a tie should be clearly.

It's well past his crotch. Fix your tie length Ramiz!

Don't really see any hope even if Pakistan do avoid the follow-on. I highly doubt Pak can bat out the rest of the day. Even if they do, there's 3 more days to go. England will dismiss us quickly tomorrow morning, build on an already formidable lead, then put Pakistan right back in to bat. This match is going to be over tomorrow.

That was a tad fortunate. Strauss just about held on 2nd time round. Another one for Jimmeh, and a much needed one, that partnership was beginning to frustrate.

c Swann b Jimmeh to bring up his 5fer.
So much win. :inlove:
Just why couldn't it be Gul getting out :( Wouldn't have minded a maiden 50 for Aamer.
