I enjoyed that innings by Smith. He should keep his place in the Test team in India now when Hauritz returns.

I am in complete awe of the Aussies. How they manage to claw out of impossible situations and win is simply amazing. They’ve done this more against Pakistan than anyone else. They’re totally in our heads and Pakistan have a complete mental stumbling block against them. Every Pakistani player, no matter what the score or match situation, is thinking in the back of his head “yeah but these are the Aussies and they’ll find a way to win”. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that comes true every time.

Buddy its not like the Aussies were phenomenal or anything...The way Kaneria and Gul bowled...even Bangladesh would have taken them to the cleaners..they were just terrible.
Terrible bowling. No excuses for this kind of dire bowling in a match like this

Coming at No.6 against Harbhajan in a test match needs a bit more than T20 approach. What is his credentials against spin with the bat?

Loving this display though.
Jesus, how about you get a clue before commenting.

The kid came into this series with a FC batting average of 56, he's not just a slogger.

Dire cricket from Pakistan the last half hour.

Hence my point about Pakistan having a mental thing against them. It's a combination of a good team doing what it does best (fight to the last man) and a team that already thinks the match is lost before they take the field that has produced this historic win streak for Aus against Pak.

I agree. Bar Smith, and Clarke for the most part, I thought Australia were ordinary.

Amir was great, but the actual quality of cricket was poor today.

Yeah. It'd have long been done and dusted otherwise.

I mean, when Australia started today they'd be looking at 5/6-350, not 350 all out.

That kind of knock is expected from Clarke..he is a proven campaigner..But I seriously think we gifted 70 runs to Smith...I saw the match..and Kaneria and Gul were just plain terrible..if you bowl bad balls, you will get hit unless you are bowling to Walsh or McGrath

At his age, Sachin had nearly 2500 test runs, an average above 50 and 8 hundreds. 21 is young but not noobishly young. That would be Aamer at 18. Anyways useful hitting by the young fellow might just have swung it Australia's way.
I don't think anyone is implying that Smith is the new Sachin Tendulkar!

21 is really young, anyway, for an Aussie.

This. Kaneria had no business bowling when Smith was simply looking to put away stuff.

I just don't think there is a team in world cricket today that would be in this position if they had bowled Australia out for 88, and then been 0-80.

Even the West Indies would have won from there IMO. Pakistan haven't lost yet, but the signs are ominous.

And if Australia had a team all out for 88, and then were 0-80, they'd have won the match in 2 days.

I don't understand "for an Aussie". Are you implying other batsmen mature early? I am merely reacting to comments like "once in a generation" etc.

That's ridiculous. 21 is young in cricket, don't bring a once-in-a-lifetime player like Sachin into it. It's silly.

And I don't take Amir's age at face value anyway.

How much longer must Smith score runs at FC level to have to be promoted?
