New Zealand home and away
Pakistan home and lost away - won series before last away
Beat Australia 2-0 at home and lost 1-2 away
Drew 1-1 with SA at home and lost 1-2 away
Beat SL 2-0 home and this series is currently underway.
Beat WI home and away

That is quite decent.Doesn't necessarily mean they are easily the best side or whatever but they have a case.

Pak haven't beaten Ind, Eng, Aus or SA in a test series for four years while we just beat Eng last year!!, they were also white washed in Australia unlike us!!,

It's seems like you're still failing to comprehend simple stats , PAKISTAN HAVEN'T WON A TEST SERIES IN FOUR YEARS, say what you like about WI but the fact is we only beat England last year and since then our first team has only faced Aus away and Sa at home, WITH HALF OUR BEST PLAYERS MISSING, furthermore the only reason we've failed to win lately is because our players went on strike against Bang, we don't rely on Test wins against them like certain other teams who play in black .

Reality is WI never seem to have a fully fit team. Neither does anyone else. If you put Younis Khan and Mohammed Yousuf in form in their batting line up, then YES, Pakistan have batsmen that can rival the WI. NZ have been robbed through injury of the one player who can actually win tests for them - Shane Bond. And before you say one player can't make that much difference - yes it can. Our bowling attack looks so so much weaker without him. Test cricket is not played with teams that would be better if all our best players were available/in form. It is played by the players who are in your team and get those results. Yes, WI beat England 18 months ago. How did they do in the return series? Not so well. Some would argue that more recent series reflects WI standing better.

A. Nice excuse to pardon the whole "lose to Bangladesh" thing. It's not Bangladesh's fault they were put up against West Indies D or whatever, and it certainly isn't NZ's.

B. NZ can only beat who they are put up against. To be fair, Bangladesh may beat us later in the year if we don't look out. They have given India and England a bit of a fight there in the last 12 months,

C. See how nice it is to be realistic about where your team is at?

D. When was the last time the West Indies beat NZ in a test match or series? 15 years or so? If you want to sight recent results, there's one for you right there.

E. The NZ test team wear white. In fact, the team that wear black (the ODI and T20 outfits) are a heck of a lot more respected around the world than the test team - and dare I say the team that wear maroon.

F. This is a discussion about who are the BEST test team in the world. In my opinion, anyone that puts NZ, WI, Pak, or Bang in that category need their heads read.

You're clutching at straws there!! , it was merely a passing comment about how we wasn't white washed in Aus like Pak was, that's more about comparing our results to Pak rather than "going on" about the drawn match in Aus.

I'm just pointing out the facts though, the last time we truly had a settled side was the day we beat England, people can harp on about "the return series" but the truth is that series should never even had taken place because Sri-lanka were ment to be playing England, they pulled out so we filled in at the last minuet, hardly the most conducive of circumstances is it? and i'm afraid ANY side missing five key players is bound to suffer, if it's one or two then you'd have a point but we've been missing half a team.

Not going to derail this thread any further.

I think that SA is the best test team in the world right now. I think IND, ENG, Aus could all beat eachother on any given day depending on things like conditions and if any key players get injured. I also think SL at home could concievably do any of those four teams quite comfortably. But their away record doesn't really put them in this argument.

Pakistan are up there due to a mistake or a joke or a small bias or whatever. It doesn't even matter because they're not going to win the poll and they're a token option.

There's no ******* rule that states you can't ask a question though!! , and as you aren't a mod what gives you the right to tell someone to "shut up" and dictate what should or shouldn't be debated? especially after YOU participated in the debate when it suited YOUR agenda!!!, the bottom line is either reply to me respectfully or digress my posts, it's as simple as that.

Part of being a good team these day's means that you have to have depth with the amount of cricket that's being played currently, every team goes through problems like the West Indies have had lately, not just the Windies.

The best sides can get away with that, i'm not deluded enough to think we are one of the best sides at this moment in time, when we have to play Dowlin, Richards, Rampaul etc like we have lately then beating the top guns is almost impossible.
