I'm not really sure how that relates to the NRL's situation. The salary cap may or may not be too low, but what guys earn in those sports bears no relation to what can be afforded by NRL clubs.

Looks like Brisbane are set to lose Israel Folau.
Can't say I am terribly disappointed. With Hodges coming back next year (the best centre in the game), I reckon Folau is a bit superfluous considering (a) he takes up $400 000 of our cap (b) he has hardly set the world alight since he's been here. I mean, how many of those tries from cross field bombs (that he used to score in his sleep for Melbourne) has he scored for us? About six, I reckon. Be good to use that money to get Hennant back, and some more grunt in the engine room.

Tolman and Lima will be up for grabs, so if you don't get Hannant, then they would be two good grabs. As WRT to Folau, well I'm starting to see him as bit of a mercenary. Came up with the family reasons story so make his story look legit so he would go to Brisbane, but if Brisbane didn't offer him 400k a season, and say a Sydney club did, he would of signed for the Sydney club. GAGF.

I think it's a bit harsh labeling a footy player as a mercenary because they chose a 1m offer to switch codes. Who wouldn't change careers if offered a 600k per year pay rise? The NRL is just going to have to accept it will lose players if the ARU wants to stump up that kind of money.
