He was impressive enough to put almost everyone in the top order in strife. Sometimes defensive spin bowling is such an art to watch.Doesn't mean he was impressive though.
BFD. He's been gifted the majority of his wickets. Got Pietersen with a rank long hop, Trott played a forward defensive and somehow managed to steer the ball onto his own stumps, Prior danced down and missed one that turned very slightly & Bell top edged a sweep. Prior's is the only wicket where he defeated the batsman and that only happened because Prior was forcing the pace.A tad rich from you considering if those were International Quality umpires, Shakib would've been sitting atop a 5 for.
Those were just compensations for having been denied plumb lbws of quite some great deliveries right?BFD. He's been gifted the majority of his wickets. Only one of those turned down was his, I think? Mahmudullah & Rubel more sinned against. Those were just compensations for having been denied plumb lbws of quite some great deliveries right?
Agreed. But it is not as if Shakib was freely scored against. In fact he was the one who built up the pressure in England innings.Only one of those turned down was his, I think? Mahmudullah & Rubel more sinned against.
He hasn't been massively impressive though. Remember that he's bowling to a weakened England batting lineup in Bangladeshi conditions- you'd really expect a solid subcontinent tweaker to do some damage there. And he's done well, don't get me wrong, but after all the hype he leaves one feeling a little underwhelmed. Shakib wouldn't be the weak link of any cricket team in the world, but I don't know how far his bowling can take a side like Bangladesh.Agreed. But it is not as if Shakib was freely scored against. He's certainly no Murali. He hasn't been massively impressive though. How does that work? It's not often these comparisons actually happen, but there was a match last year where it was actually just these two playing against each other. Vettori won IIRC.
Like this.How does that work?
Shakib scores a 50 and takes a 7-for and then another 2.I know they played each other.
How does bowling to Bangladesh batsmen equate to bowling against NZ batsmen?
How does batting against Bangladesh bowlers equate to batting against NZ bowlers?
I know you Kiwis are down on your team, but Jeez, you're not that bad yet fellas![]()
Even not taking those factors into account ,Vettori's first innings 55 is the only difference between the two in that match.I know they played each other.
