A tad rich from you considering if those were International Quality umpires, Shakib would've been sitting atop a 5 for.
BFD. He's been gifted the majority of his wickets. Got Pietersen with a rank long hop, Trott played a forward defensive and somehow managed to steer the ball onto his own stumps, Prior danced down and missed one that turned very slightly & Bell top edged a sweep. Prior's is the only wicket where he defeated the batsman and that only happened because Prior was forcing the pace.

Those were just compensations for having been denied plumb lbws of quite some great deliveries right?

Agreed. But it is not as if Shakib was freely scored against. In fact he was the one who built up the pressure in England innings.
He hasn't been massively impressive though. Remember that he's bowling to a weakened England batting lineup in Bangladeshi conditions- you'd really expect a solid subcontinent tweaker to do some damage there. And he's done well, don't get me wrong, but after all the hype he leaves one feeling a little underwhelmed. Shakib wouldn't be the weak link of any cricket team in the world, but I don't know how far his bowling can take a side like Bangladesh.

He's certainly no Murali.

I should point out that this series has seen him turn in just about his worst bowling performances for the last 18 months. He's a better bowler than this.

Although the fact that he's managed 9 wickets in the three innings anyway is nice.

When a 21 year old has to bowl like this, you know the team is overly dependent on him, he desperately needs good support, not bird-brained leaking tanks like Razzak.

Razzak shouldn't have picked, there's better test bowlers than him in the country and he's never been anything other than a liability with the red ball.

I know they played each other.

How does bowling to Bangladesh batsmen equate to bowling against NZ batsmen?

How does batting against Bangladesh bowlers equate to batting against NZ bowlers?

I know you Kiwis are down on your team, but Jeez, you're not that bad yet fellas

Shakib scores a 50 and takes a 7-for and then another 2.
Vettori scores two 50s and takes a 5-for and a 4-for.

That test match was basically Vettori vs Shakib.

Even not taking those factors into account ,Vettori's first innings 55 is the only difference between the two in that match.

Shakib batted and bowled against NZ. Vettori batted and bowled against Bangladesh. Unless NZ and Bangladesh are the same level of opposition for each other, it isn't a valid man against man comparison to decide a winner.
