As a few of you have already pointed out, and as Sahil suggested was a possibility in his bulletin, this is Bell's first solo hundred, made when none of his team-mates have passed three figures.
Cute. Belly is such a big boy now.

Lack of technology in Bangladesh I presume.

Nice to see Bell turn himself into our most reliable batsman this winter. Played some vital innings, that just didn't look possible a year or so ago. He's played excellently since he's gone back down into the middle order. Just hope Bresnan doesn't get a hundred so Bell can finally be the only centurion in an England innings.

tbf not all of them are clear cuts though still unlucky BD.
Totally agree. When watching a few re-runs, it's all so easy. With the first two LBW-appeals I was thinking: Might have missed the top / might have mist leg. And that inside edge was indeed quite clear...., when watching the slomo.

Yet, BD are obviously very unlucky. But that's why have the referral system, not? Why isn't it used????

Either because the host broadcaster won't fund it (in which case this is all the ICC's fault) or because Bangladesh didn't agree to use it (in which case my sympathy towards them will be replaced with howls of laughter).

I think we used it when we toured there? Will check.

I wasn't listening too closely but there was a discussion between the comentators during the early part of the day about the need for the ICC to fund the referrals instead of the host broadcaster.

I'd like to think that's the entire reason, rather than because we were too stupid to take up the option

Bell's record between positions 4-6 continues to improve. He now has 2686 runs at an average of 49.74 with 10 centuries and 13 half centuries. His record against Australia, India and NZ could do with improvement, but other than that he has a pretty fantastic record. Averaging 81 against Pakistan, 51 against South Africa, 74 against Sri Lanka, 49 against West Indies and 244 against Bangladesh. Now he's started making runs when they're needed too, hope it lasts.

Terrible Umpiring earned England a lead, which they didn't really deserve.

Umpires ruined the test match. They could have at least gone to 3rd umpire for the close catch, which was very clear in the slow motion.
