It's all a big mist out there. Sreesanth will move to Kerala team (being the only notable Kerala cricketer ever) and perhaps even captain itWhat are the teams going to look like? Any ideas?
Cevno, it's not 10 years, but 7 years (already 3 seasons are done). It is just money porn. From where are these people supposed to recoup the costs?
And if i am not wrong these are 10 year rights not lifetime asset ownership.370 and 333 million dollars over 10 years seems insane.
For this kind of money u could buy atleast 65% of the EPL Clubs with lifetime ownership and all assets attached(stadium and other properties etc..).
Hell Portsomuth could be bought for less than 10th of this.
I assume that Sahara has simply run the numbers based upon the relative cost of gaining seven years worth of exposure for its brand by this means as opposed to direct advertisingFlash news on TV:
Pune team bid for $370 Mil by Sahara group.
Kochi team bid for $333 Mil by "Rendezvous Sports" (A consortium consisting of unheard of companies)
Ridiculous numbers those. Given they'll "retain" these teams only for 7 years.![]()
Yeah definitely true. Long term though, just more exposure for Indian talent to some top cricketers.Just going to stretch the Indian talent even thinner, tbh.
I guess Sahara can get more exposure worldwide by other means too,for so much money. So i don't think exposure explains that kind of money fullyI assume that Sahara has simply run the numbers based upon the relative cost of gaining seven years worth of exposure for its brand by this means as opposed to direct advertising

Chennai have saved a bit of money in this year's auction. Lara to chennai will be jizzworthy. Can see the two new teams going all out for Lara if he decides to make himself available for the next auction.
It's a bad move for other reasons than just my loss of interest. But returning to just how an Indian cricket fan might lose interest in IPL... The games just seem so hard to watch with the current rate of commercials, quality of commentators and lack of analysis, maybe not for the majority yet, but definitely for quite a few Indian cricket fans and not just me alone. A lot of interesting analysis goes missing which is one of the charms of this game, and we move on to the next six or four or wicket. All of this is fine and entertaining. But they have to make sure they don't push it too far. 94 matches, mate!^ Question is, is the IPL ultimately targeted at you? If not, well...
Of course. As a marketing exercise perhaps. But remember this is just for "rights" to set up a team. Literally a sunk cost, and the cost of all others staff, player, stadia all are extra.I assume that Sahara has simply run the numbers based upon the relative cost of gaining seven years worth of exposure for its brand by this means as opposed to direct advertising
