Good to see Ryder on the club scene. He bowled 10 overs even though he was urged not to.:laugh:.

Theres a minimal chance he may play in the second test vs Aus. Hmmm
I give him a shot for the first test. Wellington play a plunket shield starting friday and finishing monday which he should be targeting. If he gets through that I give him a shot to make thetest on the following friday.

trying to be optimistic amongst all the bad injury news.

It will be a crazy risk to play him on the first test. He may re-injure his groin. But i wouldnt complain if i did see him play the first test.

Looks like Michael Clarke has flown back to Aus for "presonal reasons".

I think everyone knows what those are...

Hopefully he gets back in time for the Test series. If the ball starts moving, he's the best player in the side to combat it and it'll be a big blow to lose him.

Whilst this will probably improve the ODI batting, for tests, my bet is that North will be retained and hence incalculable damage done to the team.

Perfect time to inject Warner into the ODI team though.

Feeling much more comfortable with my money on Australia to win the ODI series with Clarke going home

In fact, I'm as mad as hell about Pup's leash being yanked, and him being impounded.

His owner should be the one who is put down.

Since when does a Pup get put back in its kennel because of his girlfriend.

Seriously, this is all quite high schoolish.

I read somewhere that his Dad was ill too, I think we should be careful until we know why he went back...

You'd think so otherwise it really is very odd. Though if his Dad is really ill, you do wonder what she's up to messing about with womens magazines.

Hate being at the opposite end of the world. Can't wait for NZ to be back over here so I can actually follow the matches better than just reading the results in the papers.

Just read the list of injured players, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Grant Elliott, James Franklin, Jacob Oram, Kyle Mills, Ian Butler, Andy McKay .. throw in a couple more players and they would prob beat our uninjured team :/

Throw in an opener, spinner and keeper and that's a pretty handy side.

Here's part of an article I was reading this morning:
"If Taylor is ruled out, Vettori talks of a middle order of Neil Broom at No4, followed by Styris, Stewart and Gareth Hopkins.

"If Shanan comes in then we need to look after him, in terms of his first game against Australia and first game for New Zealand," Vettori said.

With Franklin probably out, Styris has 10 overs on his plate. Broom spent part of practice bowling brisk medium pace and might share the sixth bowling role with Martin Guptill."
Broom and Guptil as our sixth bowling option? So far we've had a bowler go down with an injury in both games so far (Oram and Franklin). What happens if another goes down this game? Or if one of our main bowlers has a bad day? :(
It just doesn't bear thinking about.

My NZ squad of 13

Katich
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Smith
Haddin
Hauritz
Johnson
Harris
Bollinger

Cutting
Hughes

I think they will pick McKay and North though, instead of Hughes and Cutting.

I've seen Broom bowl before in the nets, he wouldn't be the worst option ever as a number six bowler. It did look like he could get them through abit.
