How about Kapil dev's 175 not out against Zimbabwe in the 1983 world cup.

175 not out of 132 ball out of am team score 266 with the next highest score being 24.

And not the flattest of wickets either.
And not too forget in a world cup match and a do or die one. What a Innings!!!!
100% agreed.

If we win this series 3-0 it would be awesome considering the team for tomorrow's game. I believe Manish Pandey should have had a look in. He seems to be a mighty big prospect and I am very excited about him.

Popping in here to ask...Mithun? WTF? He's had such a great FC debut, why are they ruining him? Why you piece of crap selectors? If you want him to debut, have him debut in Tests.

If Sachin didn't make 200/break the record this would be the most forgettable ODI series. **** surfaces, nothing for the seamers and the spinners have to bowl darts because they don't dare toss it up. World Cup doesn't need these surfaces.

And from a South African POV even if they win this match it is hollow as they are bowling to a second string Indian batting line-up. They should also be disappointed they didn't make 400+ given the start Bosman gave them.

Crowd pressure got to Karthik .... After two dot balls there was 'ooooooo' in the crowd and you could sense Karthik was going to try something

Indian umpire is a clown. So incompetent you almost think he is intentionally giving India reprieves.

In the end, we can say that those 100 runs that SA scored in the last 7 overs did Ind in. With this 'D' line up even if one of Karthik, Dhoni or Pathan had got going, the result could have been different

For Ind this was a good learning experience (but I guess they wouldn't take any thing out of it and keep repeating those mistakes) to look in strategy and also in to some of the newer guys

With like an year to go for the WC, it would be good to look in to some of the old bowlers like Munaf, IP (Irfan Pathan), etc, unless we don't find anyone special in the coming months. Sree is mostly a test material so should be used for that. If he has to play in ODIs, it shouldn't be on the pitches like the ones in sub-continent. May be over seas in places like SA and Eng

Dhoni is not a bad captain but he needs to pull up his socks. There is no point in stuffing the line up with too many bits and pieces players. Guys like YP may be reserved for T20s where their quick 20s-30s and the ability to bowl 3-4 good overs would be utilized more properly than in ODIs where if you are selected as one of the bowling all-rounders, you need to consistently bowl 7-8 good overs, along with having the ability to score 50-60 occasionally (not rarely) as well

We need to play 4 specialists bowlers, the ones who are better than the others when it comes to bowling. I don't like when X gets picked because he doesn't do a bad job with the ball and is a better batsman and a fielder than Y who is a better bowler. We need to pick better bowlers, esp those who can pick up wkts. Having 4 specialists bowlers also enables us to look for wkts in the middle overs. It's picking up wkts that derails the opposition more than bowling 2 -3 economical overs as 1-2 big overs can make up for those for the opposition

So far from what I have seen my pool of 20 players goes like this (for a playing 11 like the one below):

A - 6 batsmen (including wk) from: Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvi, Raina, Karthik, Dhoni, Kohli and Panday
B - 1 bowling all-rounder from: Jadeja and IP (Irfan) .... play both of them (at the expense of one of the bowlers below) in the X1 only if they are bowling really well
C - 4 bowlers from: Zak, Nehra, Ishant, PK, Munaf, Bhajji, Mishy and Ashwin

^ That's 19 players, so 20th spot is still open from which one can short list a squad of 16

After today's game, Sreesanth has an economy rate over 6, the highest among all ODI bowlers. The guy is such a joke in ODI's; the South Africans will have done us a big favour if he is now out of World Cup contention. Though of course, Ishant and Nehra don't inspire much confidence either. We have to try out more medium pacers and hope one of them clicks by the World Cup.

Even though SA scored 365, I actually thought it was quite boring. How can this be?
I guess because it was effectively India A vs South Africa?

I am glad I devoted that time to some social bonding than watching this terribly inconsequential match. India treated it as some sort of joke practise and I beleive actually bordered on the disrespect for the visitors. 8 of their best players did not feature. I wish they should have just closed the tour at 2-0.
