This batting lineup couldn't even last 35 overs....

That's why Nash has to play in the next ODI, IMHO.

We need someone who can last 50 overs, now that Shiv is injured. It's not all wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am in ODI cricket.

Yeah I'd definitely bring Nash in for Morton. I'd also want Deonarine in the top 4. Quite obviously a better bat than Simmons et al.

But there's no point having someone bat and score at a tick of about 50 (exaggeration, but you know...). Even under Test match conditions, Nash has problems rotating the strike sometimes (like the 3rd Test). All that aside from the fact that he has an awful OD record, suggesting that he doesn't stick around long anyway. The man has only passed 50 once in 37 innings.

That said, I'd love it if he came in and did well. I really like Nash a lot. But he wasn't even good in OD cricket in WI, while he scored well in FC cricket.

Well that batting performance was frighteningly bad. Without Shiv, Sarwan and Big Bravo we have no capabilities in the middle overs and Pollard and Smith will be coming in way too early. Deonarine and Simmons have to step it up and bat through the innings, even if their strikerate is only 75/80 ish.

Incidentally, I have a really good feeling about Pollard in his 2nd stint at ODI level. I know it's only 1 match but his body language in the field and at the crease looks so much more confident. He really looked like he belonged yesterday.

The less said about Dwayne Smith the better though!

The problem with Lendl Simmons and Narsingh Deonarine is that neither have ever been much good at limited overs cricket. I have more hope for Deonarine though, as he seems to have improved more than Simmons.

Simmons played a sparkling knock of 83 in the Haiti Charity T20, but that's not remotely related to anything else in this post. :p

He's always been average in one-day cricket, and I've never said otherwise.
He was poor imo and never looked threatening at all, if we're gonna replace Benn anytime soon we'll need a much better player than him i believe.

Now i've had time to calm down i just feel like the whole thing was an embarrassment, but it was typical WI though, we got ourselves in a decent position when we kept it down to 256, then when we need our captain to step up once again he plays a stupid shot and it's over, that's why i can't wait for Brathwaite to mature because i think his style will be much more reliable opening up for us, Gayle is electric on his day but if that "day" only comes once every five games then more often than not we won't get anywhere, that game personfied why i favor bringing in new faces because the same old guys never seem to learn from their mistakes.

Do you grasp the concept of there being different forms of cricket?

Yeah and i'm just saying that i doubt he's any better in the longer form either hence the "he doesn't look threatening" line!! ,
That's okay too. Because we disagree on a basic point- that bowlers bowl differently depending on the form of the game. But hey, there's no reason for them to do so and no evidence that they've done so. So whatever.

Oh so it was his game plan not to be a theat then? OK!!

What's that got to do with the difference between One Day cricket and 4/5 day cricket?
Being a WI fan every game counts, why? because unlike the Aussies we ain't used to winning lately, so just like we dominated the second test against Australia but didn't have enough to win the game, yesterday was much of the same but the ODI verson, we started well but messed it up again, plus i think my comments about Gayle are valid whether it's in tests or one dayers.
