Apparently Wayne Bridge sent his ex-wife a replica of his old fella moulded in Cadbury's chocolate.

She said she preferred Terrys.

Togo handed two-tournament Nations Cup suspension - Global - ESPN Soccernet

Haha these guys make the ICC look good. It would be at next year's World Cup and the Australian team arrives in India, some terrorist group starts shooting at them, the Australian Government yank them from India and make them come back to Australia and the ICC gives them a suspension for the following two World Cups. Seems pretty harsh.
Key part bolded.

According to CAF, no government should have no say in what happens with football teams, regardless of the ethics of the situation. Considering how certain African dictatorships are run, I can sort of see the point here. This is also a position supported by FIFA; hence the Kenyan team was banned from the last World Cup as the politicians waded into the hornets' nest that is the Kenyan Football Federation. As the Togolese government had issued a command to go home, this is seen as a provocation to CAF, and hence the ridiculous length of the ban.

(now, if the Togolese government had said "we advise the squad to go home on safety grounds", and the Togolese federation ha agreed with "we're following the advice of security experts and our own government", then it would have been different. I think.)

No you didn't. Unless you lived where I did you'd have no idea why I would have no clue.
Only you would know the true reason you decided to follow the club. But it completely defies belief that you could know about football, know about Beckham, and not know that he belonged to one of the most successful clubs in the history of the sport. Whether or not that influenced your decision to follow the club is beside the point.

Hmm, Smalling, og on his debut (unlucky mind), looked a bit out of sorts for Spurs 1st goal the other day, got muscled out by the not-exactly-superstrong Gabby Agborlonahahahahagor for Villa's 1st today....... Will be keeping an eye on him for the rest of the year, hope its just teething problems in the top flight and pass soon

Quite, I'm afraid if you have heard of football in any professional context, you have heard of Manchester United.

I already said I heard the name Man Utd and that Beckham played for them but only because of watching the World Cup. IIRC there was mention of Man Utd winning the title but I've only just remembered that now. I simply had no interest in club football until the 03/04 season. Just knew the names of some clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd but no idea of how the success. Treble I only knew about a few months into the season or when someone mentioned it on here.

I freely admit glory hunting for my 2 favourite foreign teams - AC Milan and Real Madrid

AC really due to us playing them in a friendly in about 1990 or 91 pre-season, drew 1-1 against the best club side in the world, thought the black and red kit was cool, always liked them since. Hate Juve with a passion thanks to us always coming up against them in Europe in the 90's, so nice win there. Don't think much of Inter either

Real due to hating Barcalona really, esp after the 4-0 in '94 (though didnt like them purely because we played them in the CWC in 91), friend at school's family was from Madrid, so adopted them on his recommendation, was a couple of years before they rebought European domination though

I wouldn't say I support them, but the name "Juventus" still sends a shiver down my spine as a result of those European Cup meetings. I was only 6 when we were beaten home and away by them in the group stages- they'd just won the thing, and in my head they were some kind of mythical and incredible foreign team the English clubs just couldn't match. Giggs hitting a late winner against them in '97 put me in a good mood for weeks, it felt like we'd done the impossible.

I prefer Barca over Real too. Them and Hamburg are the only continental teams I'd follow.

I started supporting Inter when they were also rans and did not look like winning Serie A anytime soon until the result influencing (not match fixing per se) scandal that sent Juve into Serie B and Inter the last four Serie A titles. But I guess that does make me a glory hunter. But I have purposely gone out of my way to go to a few of their games, learn about the history of the club, the players etc.
