2nd One Day International Cricketweb XI vs New Zealand
@ Hamilton
Cricketweb XI produced another scintilating performance to account for a below par New Zealand side in their second One Day International at Napier today. The sides were greeted with a flater quicker pitch than the one they played on in game one, Neil Pickup again won the toss and elected to bat.
Openers James Stedman and Nick Scott couldn't reproduce their efforts of Monday as they both fell cheaply, also coming and going in quick time was Chris Butler and Alex Crampton which left Andrew Cloete at the crease with Rob Dauth. They combined for an excellent 210 run partnership in which Cloete scored his third ODI cenutry and his 123 was also the highest score of his career at this level. Also making a personal best was Dauth who with 98 not out fell two runs short of a maiden ton. Jacob Oram and Daryl Tuffey took a couple of wickets each for the home side who wouldn't have been that happy seeing the opposition make 291/6 from their 50 overs.
Brendon McCullum and Aaron Redmond negated the new ball with neither Gough or Clapham asking many questions, Gough bowled good lines to restrict the run scoring. It wasn't until game one hero Sean Fuller was introduced that Cricketweb XI got on top, in a fantastic ten over spell all rounder Fuller had the magnificent figures of 5/33. By the time he had bowled out his overs the match was practically over however an unbeaten 105 run partnership between Kane Williamson and Daniel Vettori highlighted just how toothless the attack looks with the exception of Fuller. The Kiwis finished at 214/6, an easy 71 run victory.
Cricketweb XI 291/6 (50)
AP Cloete 123(119), RJ Dauth 98*(114), DR Tuffey 2/41, JD Oram 2/52
New Zealand 214/6 (50)
KS Williamson 74*(91), DL Vettori 55*(69), SE Fuller 5/33
Cricketweb XI won by 71 runs
