I have to agree with Botham, we need to hit out a bit more now. Can't see us losing the game from here so we need to pile on some runs. Looks like we'll continue to bat after lunch.

Something to do with Prince EWS, think he sent an email into Sky and Athers mentioned recognising his posts, or something like that

FFS, Broad, batting for the draw:@

My feelings on Bell is that it's been a very good innings for the team, so good luck to the bloke. Not my fave player, but credit where it's due.:)

Yeah, don't understand the way Broad is batting at all as he is capable of scoring quickly.

This bowling has been eye-gouging stuff though. Can't believe I got out of bed to watch this.

It is this sort of thing that drives me around the bend.

Through this pissing about they're throwing away win percentage. They'd be better off declaring than pottering about like this.

TMS talking total bollocks. Saying it's better to drift than lose wickets. Err no it isn't. There's only 5 sessions left - and some of that will be lost. So you've got maybe 120-140 overs. Are SA are going to smash 500 in 60 overs? I don't think so.

Colly's dislocated his finger apparently.

Shouldn't matter for this match, but mean's we'll have to draft in a batsmen, I'd of thought. Wonder who they'll go for?

If Colly misses out then I reckon they'll bump Bell up one and pick wright

edit - but I guess you mean into the squad

I presume they've just been looking to survive until Lunch with 6 wickets down, and then really up the pace in the Afternoon session. Doesn't really make any sense, as they could have just had a bash now and after lunch. Losing 1 extra wicket down wouldn't have been a disaster, especially if it was Broad.

Credit to Ian Bell. England needed runs in the innings, to get them into a good position, and Belly comes up with a hundred. Hopefully he'll kick on from here and start to guarantee his place in the side. I still rate him as a very good player, just needs to start making some big runs, like he did against Pakistan in 06.

As for Colly, I'd hope they bring another batsman into the squad. Would be a good excuse to get some extra batting depths, as I don't particularly want to see Luke Wright getting a game. Eoin Morgan? Ed Joyce? Michael Carberry?

Although Bell came into bat with us having runs on the board, had he failed it could conceivably have triggered a collapse which saw our total being similar to South Africa's, and thereby we could have wound up in a tricky situation. He did exactly what we needed him to and deserves any plaudits he gets for this innings - it's now a case of him needing to do the same again next time, or put the runs on when he comes in at 90-4. A lot of time has been invested in him, the selectors obviously want him to succeed, so it's in everyone's best interests if he does.

Biggest disappointment of the series so far has been Saffa's bowling, pretty toothless on the most part. If a spin bowler fails against India this is seen as damning on their record, therefore I propose that a swing bowler like Steyn should be judged on his record against England. Give me Jimmeh any day

I'd like Joyce called up, but I think they'll go for Morgan. On the Wright issue, I think a lot depends on whether we win this one. Would of thought if we had a 1-0 lead we'd want another batsman.

BTW, not sure if it's been mentioned, but Warney's laughable Hants bias in his column trying to get Carberry called up. He mentioned his off-spin as a factor, yeah those 9 first-class wickets at over 80 really should give him the edge:laugh:

Gotta luv Shane.
