Pakistan 270/4, Butt scoring an impressive ton. Surprisingly good stuff. I feel that the opener's have adopted a new strategy to grind it out rather than play flashy. About time.

Can't say I'm too impressed with Australia in this WI series. Feel Pakistan can eke out a victory especially if Ponting is not playing.

I think many would say something similar about Pakistan too after New Zealand put them under the pump.

Looking forward to seeing Asif have a go down here. Also feel Moyo and Younis could get plenty of runs seeing the way the Aussies have been bowling recently. I really worry about the rest of that team though.

I'd be highly surprised if Younis scored any runs in the Tests at all, myself...

TBH, I reckon Ponting will play. If he doesn't, however, messing about with the openers when they've been the best thing about the batting order all series would be comfortably the worst thing to do. If they insist on picking Hughes or someone else, bat them at 3.

Sadly, reckon Kling won't get a shot but I'd love it if he did.

Big innings for Shaun Marsh right now too. He's on 39*, reckon the selectors would prefer to select him over both Rogers and Klinger.

Aamir as usual ripping it............

I say put Abdur Rauf instead of Gul against the Ozs....see what happens....he just took another one....

After seeing WI put up a good fight against Ozs, i have started to feel a bit more confident about Pak as well....but we need a Chris Gayle in our team....hmmmmmmmmm....

I have a feeling that Pakistan's batsmen will put on a better show than their bowling counterparts on this tour.
Should be a ripping series. Pak have a great chance - diverse bowling attack with weapons on all fronts, solid bats in MoYo and the Akmal brothers and finally the openers are amongst the runs with both Farhat & Butt tonning up recently

Pakistan are a dangerous team; the only problem with them is their inconsistency. I am backing Pakistan to pull this off though. MoYo needs to step up being Pak's best batsman in Younis Khan's absence. The bowling is good as it is, very good in fact. If West Indies can get them out for 150, Pakistan can get them out for 100

Aussie team for Melbourne, assuming Ponting, Hilfy and Siddle are fit should be:

Katich
Watson
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
North
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger
Siddle (12th)

If Hilfy's not right, obviously Siddle comes in.

If Ponting's not right, Hughes in at opener, Watson down to number 3.

Hussey still yet to really convince he's shouldn't be the one closest to the axe, and North will want to score some more runs soon to continue to be secure in his spot - a series average of 33 against a Windies attack lacking Taylor or Edwards isn't overly convincing.

If Hughes does play, and score big, and one of Hussey or North fail, there would be a deal of pressure for one of them (probably North given the way things work) to make way for Ponting instead of the Prince.

I agree. Can't help the feeling that despite exceeding everyone's expectations since he came into the side, North is only one poor test match away from the axe... Especially given the selector's volatility of late and the fact they cleary want to dump someone to bring Hughes back..
