I wouldn't be writting Elliot off completely but hes hardly set the world alight in his three innings in New Zealand this summer, nor does he have the flashest test record (in fact Ian O'Brien nearly averages higher). The way Fulton's going I wouldn't mind playing him in the middle order instead.
Agree on Elliott - I mentally consigned him to the test-match dustbin after his previous performances, but because of Ryder's injury, Oram's retirement and the fact that he continues to perform in ODIs I do think he deserves another go. IMO is competing with Franklin with the number 6 spot and there are doubts over both of them.

Fulton at 4 with Taylor at 5 is an interesting idea. I don't think Fulton is back in the frame with the selectors at the moment though, after being disappointing last year against Australia. I wonder if he was moving his feet when he scored 172 earlier.

So, what are you going to do today Mathew?

Skippy: Oh you know, just go and smash another century for CD. Might flay a few bowlers around the park just like every week and get the old average up. What's that? Four of my teammates in the top 6 out for single figures? Not a problem, I'll bat right-handed this week. Strike rate of 70 good enough for you. Yeah? Good.

Someones gotta put ND in their place.

Nice record by McGlashan.

Guptill out for 49 off McKay. Least he got out to someone good but thats another choke. Oh well.

Can see Auckland butchering Wellington. McKay is the only decent bowler there and that Auckland batting line up is seriously good.

How does Sinclair never get a County gig, but hacks like Cosgrove do? I can see Sinclair scoring a lot of runs in County Cricket if he ever got the chance.

I'd like to extend a giant FU on behalf of NZ to Mr Simons.

And O'Brien doesn't seem to happy with the local media:

I hope Darren Broom gets a gig for Otago soon.
Raval bowls some tidy legspin.
And Lance Shaw is such a cool name

CD in huge trouble at 201/8. We don't have the bowling to rescue this one unless Mason and Thompson go beserk.

Boult gets Skippy for 93. At least it was Boult, not Aldridge. Boult is awesome and has a future with NZ.

Aldridge gets a ten for for the match, currently on 4/66. Good work by the ND stalwart.

Boult currently has match figures of 6/55, an excellent return.

In other news, Bondy took 4/63 in Otago's innings of 235. The other bowler of note was Anderson with 2/2. Morgan and Todd notched up fifties for Otago with Wagner scoring a handy 41 (47) before being bowled by Bond.

Auckland after looking ominous with Jones' century have had their middle order raped by Jeetan Patel who took 4/47. Aucks currently 201/5.

If Todd has a decent domestic season I wouldn't be surprised to see him make his international debut, especially with people going down with injuries left right and centre, and a few spots in the batting line up not yet cemented.
When he was being talked about playing for the Black Caps last year (iirc) it seemed a bit early but come 2010 he may be ready. IMO of course.

Unsure tbh. He's probably a better bet than Flynn but I think Fulton and Patton are better batsmen than him. Remember him being a big LBW candidate in the admittedly few games I've seen him in. That State Shield final especially (McCullum 170 match) Mills was honing in on that front foot pad a bit.

Solid player.

We have to wrap up this tail quickly, Doug Bracewell is a very capable batsmen though so I wouldn't be surprised if he scored a few runs.

Domestically Franklin has done everything possible to get that #6 spot that he possibly can over this past year.

In the 08-09 and 09 seasons he has 1769 @ 55.28 from 38 innings (6 NO) 6 100s and 8 50s

Get him in there.

If he backs up his 40 odd (one of the few innings of note) in the tour game he'll probably get it unless Vettori wants to bat six.

Was referring more too Tests, to be honest. Though I agree that Fulton is a better batsman. I wish he'd get given another run but this time in the middle order, where he belongs (once again, talking about Tests).
