I was just perusing through statistics. Muralitharan has an average of 75.45 bowling in Australia with a strike rate of 131.0. Kumble has a average of 37.73 with a strike rate of 65.3 bowling in Australia and Dan Vettori has an average of 40 and a strike rate of 82.3 bowling in Australia.

Only Kumble was relatively unscathed but his average went up about 8 but his strike rate went down very marginally, Vettori's average goes up 10 Muralies goes up 50. Even accomplished spin bowlers do badly in tests in Australia.

So I suppose our domestic spinners averages and whatnot aren't the best indication of their potential and skills.

In fairness, membership of the club here went up 100% when Kirki joined. haha Besides, I suspect you've been a closet support against opponents other than Vic.
 It's true, read the SACA annual report.

SA @ 101 runs now, shame Cooper got out, he's been doing pretty well this season, was hoping he could get a half century at least.

At home trying to finish an assignment so no reports from the players boxes today

From the ball-by-ball, it looks like the fast short stuff from Nannes/McKay finished their spells just as Cooper came in and he's feasting from the guys bowling meds. See how he goes when the other two come back.
Where are you getting a ball-by-ball from?, I usually use cricinfo but they don't have any commentary kind of thing for shield matches.

You mean me being a closet SA fan? Rubbish! Although when Herby played I had a soft spot for them.
You might have a softer spot when you get fed up playing for Camberwell and head here for a state cap.

101 at lunch is good, 4 down is less good although they're obviously fighting hard. A Darren Lehmann-esque knock with the tail would be good at this point in time.

Couldn't be a better day to bat, mind.

redhotchilipepa, is there any way that someone from SACA can get their hands on the footage of Mark Cosgrove doing a push-up that was featured last season in the SA vs WA game on Fox Sports? Possibly the funniest thing that I've seen. Has to go to youtube.

I believe he made a duck that game, too.

Another new season, same old Cosgrove it seems.
Tore it up for Glamorgan last season (div 2, given) but it seems Sheffield Shield is too hard for him. Sad thing is, there ain't exactly a log-jam of guys from grade cricket putting pressure on him....

Looked like the squad had to do ten push-ups during warm-up. In the front of camera was Maxy Klinger pumping 'em out. In the background, Cosgrove is just holding himself up, looking around to see if anyone was watching him, and then as soon as Klinger finished he got up as well and dusted himself off. Bloody hilarious.

My God, you'd hope it was a wind-up but, well, knowing who we're talking about, maybe not.....

Ludeman comes out for his FC debut. He'd be getting heaps from the Vics, hope he comes through it. Never a better time for a first-up ton!

Over 56.1: McKay to Ludeman, no run, gets out the way of a good bouncer

Over 56.2: McKay to Ludeman, no run, and again, thats two first up trying to unsettle the new guy

Over 56.3: McKay to Ludeman, no run, forward defence back down the ptch
Over 56.4: McKay to Ludeman, no run, ducks under another bouncer, slower ball coming up I bet
Over 56.5: McKay to Ludeman, FOUR, fullish delivery outside off beautifully driven through the covers

I like this guy. Gutsy. Imagine the alternative after an over like that.

Over 56.5: McKay to Manou, OUT, cross-bat slog across the line, middle stump cartwheels out of the ground! Was only a matter of time.....

I wish Carseldine was 10 years younger - 23 years 347 days.

He's raced to 26 from 22 balls.
