somehow wasim (and huma) remains closer to the image of a typical pakistani i grew up with.;slightly but not significantly different from a typical indian subcontinental resident. i guess the cultures have drifted away from each other in the last 15 years.
I think recently its the media recently there has been misconception which shows Indian's as more modern, open minded while Pakistani's being conservative and even bordering on extreamism. Before 26/11 I have been lucky to visit Dehli quite often and to me a commom middle class guy in India and Pakistan are still absolutley the same.

As for how did the Islamic influance became so strong in team Pakistan and many players made a U-turn, its a complex issue on which one has to write an article on it to explain it. Just to give a gist I would say a bunch of guys from humble, religous background decided to go back to their roots once they reached 30's and started their own families after enjoying a period where there lifestyle was against the moral beliefs which had been instilled in them during their younger days.

Didn't know anything about how much Wasim's wife meant to him until now, but it's always incredibly sad for anyone when someone so dear to them is taken. Great cricketer or anyone else.

If I had a way, I'd wish Wasim Akram all the best. But I don't, so all I can say is he has my sympathy.
you could do it on his facebook
