Both still miles better than the next guy in line.Seems to me they're about even now around now. Both past their peak, approaching retirement, not going to score amazingly like in years gone by but will come out with a gem of an innings every so often.
wow... And Hussey better than Greg Chappell and Kambli better than Border...I can see your logic here, because Ponting scores more runs per innings Tendulkar and Lara must be better.
Andy Ganteaume is the greatest of them all.wow... And Hussey better than Greg Chappell and Kambli better than Border...
Surprised you think so, since he was dropped five times in that innings. No, Norman Callaway is clearly better.
not really... he was dropped at 38, 69, 112, 145, 187 and was dismissed at 207.No, Norman Callaway is clearly better.
I'm aware of all of that. The precise point I was making is that the scorebook in itself is an unreliable means of judging a batsman. Dropped catches being one of the biggest reasons why.not really... he was dropped at 38, 69, 112, 145, 187 and was dismissed at 207.
his average should be 207/6 = 34.5 which looks more accurate considering his actual scores would have been 38, 31, 43, 33, 42 and 20 had the catches been taken. it is actually silly to ignore such missed opportunities and give him the title of "the greatest batsman of all time" because he clearly did not score 207 runs in one innings; he needed six.
wow... And Hussey better than Greg Chappell and Kambli better than Border...
And as for that Naveed Nawaz, definite contender for greatest batsman of all-time!
Andy Ganteaume is the greatest of them all.
No, Norman Callaway is clearly better.
That is amazing (admittedly the amazing part is of no relevance to anyone else)No, Norman Callaway is clearly better.
Wow, that's both very sad and quite incredible. That is amazing (admittedly the amazing part is of no relevance to anyone else)
I had a Great Uncle who went to Australia with his foster parents in 1899 and died in the same battle as Norman Callaway two days later at the age of 31.
Ah! In the midst of your crap posting you accidentally stumbled upon a very interesting stat there.Player most likely to get out for 10 runs or less LBW
1. Tendulkar
2. Lara
3. Ponting
Actually it says more about you, I have known this for a long time and have posted it on other forums, It is posters like yourself who dont know the facts that post crap.Ah! In the midst of your crap posting you accidentally stumbled upon a very interesting stat there.
Player who never faced Mcgrath and Warne in a Test match ?Some interesting facts in the Tendulkar, Lara and Ponting debate.
Player scoring ducks per innings
1. Lara
2. Tendulkar
3. Ponting
Player dismissed for 10 runs or less per innings
1. Lara
2. Tendulkar
3. Ponting
Player dismissed for 10 runs or less LBW per innings
1. Tendulkar
2. Lara
3. Ponting
Player dismissed out for 20 runs or less per innings
1. Lara
2. Tendulkar
3. Ponting
Player scoring 50 runs or more per innings
1. Ponting
2. Tendulkar
3. Lara
Yet in the same period Tendulkar averaged 61.45 and Ponting averaged 46.34 Wow that is a difference of 15. Since Ponting did as well as Tendulkar/Lara against Quality bowling he must have done horrible against inferior bowling so have that difference in overall average during that period, No ?Some more interesting facts.
When Ponting started playing for Australia 8th December 1995,
Tendulkars record at the time was:
Batting average against South Africa 33.6
Batting average against Pakistan 35.8
He had never faced Ambrose and had never played a test match in the West Indies.

OK moving on from here lets look at the period between 8th December 1995 and 1st Jan 2001
In this period Tendulkar averaged against
South Africa 34
Pakistan 30
West Indies 57
Ponting in the same period averaged
South Arica 49
Pakistan 63
West Indies 37

Posters like to talk about quality bowling and I selected these stats because they include the likes of Donald, Ambrose, Akram, Walsh and Younis.
Ponting is every bit equal to Tendulkar when it comes to facing Quality bowling.
