The problem is with KP out injured we don't have a spin option in our top order where as the aforementioned sides have the likes of Yuvraj, Sehwag, Duminy, Malik, Jayasuriya all in their top order. So they've always got more overs of spin up their sleeves if needed.Swann averages under 30 with the ball, that's automatic selection regardless of what he bowls and what surface England is playing on. Should probably be playing two spinners in the Champions Trophy anyhow. India will have over 20+ overs of spin, South Africa too, Sri Lanka ditto and Pakistan will go in with at least three spinning options.
Sorry, but most ODI sides could have knocked off the runs against this England attack, esp when you throw in the village green fielding. The wonder is it got as close as it did.Great chase. Been so long since we've done something like this. Great to have it under the belt before the CT. Ponting showing Sachin "Whatever you can do, I can do similar!"
Yet we haven't chased a score like this in a long time. Yes it's England, but small steps.Sorry, but most ODI sides could have knocked off the runs against this England attack, esp when you throw in the village green fielding. The wonder is it got as close as it did.
Bracken to go the distance today. Siddle too possibly. That puts huge pressure on Johnson to take 6fer.
A strike rate of 90 just doesn't cut it. And when I was watching I saw him hit it straight to cover twice in a row early in his innings. Absolutely unforgivable!Huh? It was a good innings today from Clarke.
Not having any cashews myself, still enjoying the aftertaste of the t-bone steak
Fantastic innings from Ponting, daresay one of his best, regardless of the attack.
I, also, am enjoying the cashews.
This innings backs up my previous post of a partnership player who's at his best with a dominant player at the other end. Did well playing second fiddle to Ponting and it was the partnership that set up the match. you'd be off your rocker to suggest this forgives many of the horrible substandard LOI innings we've seen from him in the past couple of years or that they didn't happen in some peice of bizarre revisionisim.A strike rate of 90 just doesn't cut it. Surprised you haven't lost more weight if you're still living off those reserves. Not having any cashews myself, still enjoying the aftertaste of the t-bone steak
I'm posting on CricketWeb.Will have to get on the scales and let you know
Big effort given English dentition. Not having any cashews myself, still enjoying the aftertaste of the t-bone steak
Wonder why that is tbh. There are going to be uncontrollables like KP and Fred's injuries but as a unit you'd think they would have hit on a formula that works reasonably well for their side. Alternatively, with things going sour here maybe they could have varied their batting approach earlier in the series. At a loss really.Yeah, woeful stuff. Quite frustrating as well, over the last few years there have been some really promising series, notably away to Sri Lanka and home to India and South Africa. But they've always been followed by absolute dross, like this one, India away and the two against the Kiwis.
They could start by picking a side that contains players who are better than terrible at OD cricket. Its frustrating when we aren't great at ODI's but the selections hardly give us our best chance.Wonder why that is tbh. Hmm. Don't follow Englisg domestic LO stuff tbh so I wouldn't know who's banging the door down. They could start by picking a side that contains players who are better than terrible at OD cricket. Its frustrating when we aren't great at ODI's but the selections hardly give us our best chance.
