Job's half done. He has to make his maiden Test century sometime, may as well be in this Test, and Jesse Ryder could do with another century.

Scratch that idea.

Oh god, McCullum's coming out, obviously Vettori just wants this over and done with.

3rd test against the Aussie's back on. Tell the likes of Oram and McCullum to just **** of then?

And out. Was just a matter of time, he kept going back to full deliveries and it was inevitable that he'd miss one.

Here's McCullum to scratch around horribly for half an hour or so.

Flynn's 50 will preserve him from scrutiny. Most likely. If i were the selectors i would try to make changes anyway.

I'd like to see Flynn stay. He's got things to work on, but I can easily see him averaging 35+, which I think is better than most of his current rivals for the position.

I think you're right - Flynn will be retained. They obviously see him as a long term project and shows promise from time to time.

Will probably drop one of McIntosh or Guptill for Pakistan, though hard to know which one.

Can't imagine Guptill would be dropped before McIntosh. Guptill at least looks solid and comfortable before he does something stupid and gets out. McIntosh looks as though he's struggling immensely, then does something stupid and gets out. I'd prefer the guy who at least looks good beforehand.

But what changes are there to make? No number 3's have really extinguished themselves (save Myburgh, who won't qualify for another season). I agree Flynn isn't a number 3, and if he is to be in the New Zealand side, he should be batting down the order, where he can try and glue things together. But I really struggle to see who there is, who we can say with any degree of confidence, that will come in and do better.

We could always go back to Fulton I suppose.

There's Fulton, who obviously has one of the best records in NZ first-class cricket and has been in good form for NZA as well. Though in saying that he looked pretty awful last time he played for NZ and I remember mentally casting him on the scrapheap then.
