Mcintosh's 69 is going to save him from scrutiny from this tour.
Wouldn't be 100% sure on that. It's a difficult one - Guptill's scored quite a few more runs by now.

I honestly don't understand how a batsman can be so inept at the start of his innings, yet when he does get past that can stay in and concentrate for hours and hours. Does it take his eyes an hour to adjust to daylight?

Flynn's test strike rate is 39.60 - I guess mcintosh is no faster but it just seems slower when flynn is out there. Its some type of optical illusion. Anyways we are trying to save the test so runs don't matter. Go Flynn. Block your heart out.

Flynn's ODI average was 15 no wonder he got dropped.

Dire bit of judgement there from McIntosh.

The spinners will probably be on in a couple of overs; I say our best chance is to hope they get injured overexerting themselves.
Would be good preparation for the one-dayers, that's for sure.

"They lack in ability, but they make up for it in determination."

I really get sick of hearing people say this about NZ. And I really don't think it's true - Guptill, Taylor, Ryder and McCullum don't lack in ability.

Yes, agreed. Hate that decade old stereotype that the commentators always bring out every overseas tour.

Aaargh noooooo Guptill! ****.

Well they do lack ability. Who of them can actually show enough patience to stay at the crease and make a massive score? And who can do it with any consistency? Neither Taylor nor McCullum can. Ryder is new and well done that guy for his double hundred.

And look at that, Guptill is out - if it wasn't for lack of ability what was it?

I consider patience and natural ability different things.

Have to say I neither saw nor heard an edge there. I guess there was one, since he walked, but must be one of the faintest ever.

TAB are offering 40 to one for a New Zealand win.

:):):):)
The TAB should offer odds on whether this is going to go into the 5th day.

I must say I am dissapointed with Guptils dismissal - I enjoy watching him bat because he is so positive. But that ball was a toughy. At least he didn't get out to a short ball I guess that is progress and he saw off the opening bowlers which is his job.

I am not sure how he should have played that delivery differently could he have left it?

Asif will like that.

But Bond should be back for New Zealand by then. Should be a good series, just hope the weather is ok. Seems a bit too early for a test series in New Zealand.
