Not think we might be tempted to bring him in for Ravi?
Should just stick with Ravi from this point imo, even if he doesn't do a great job for the rest of the series, he will benefit from the experience. And despite bullying his way through the CC, I have never been convinced of the credentials of Rob Key as an international batsman.

My dad turned it off when the went of for rain again...checked cricinfo a bit later and it looked like it had been abanonded but we managed a win, not that it means anything. Few more runs for Tom Smith (y)

Peculiar game at Canterbury. 4-day game and Middlesex got bowled out for 155 in 36 overs including 3 run outs. Kent are 57-6 with 1 run out. The other oddity is none of the Middlesex run outs involved Owais Shah.

Nice from Rudolph, just run out two people in two overs.

Poor Bairstow, been on TV twice now and faced only a couple of balls. I was looking forward to watching him bat as well. Rudolph needs to score now but he looks clueless against Tahir...

Epic knock from Ed Joyce (183) for Sussex. The second highest score of the innings is 23 from Corey Collymore.

Few guys knocking on the door for Ravi's slot now...

Yeah, not the first time Joyce has played an innings in tough conditions like that this season either. As I said earlier when I was talking about Joyce, his stats for the season don't really reflect what he's done. I'd be picking him in the Test team - and in fact would have been even before this latest innings.

Joyce should have played Tests rather than ODIs at any rate imo.
Picking players for the wrong format, a classic selection oddity. Particularly odd that Jonathan Trott has never played an ODI but is now looking pretty likely to play a test. Trott's quality in both formats, but England have had so many other options in tests and none in ODIs.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire are paying the price for some horrendously negative batting. 232 isn't the worst score but I got the feeling they could have got plenty more if they'd actually tried to get them.

Shocking innings from Carberry, one of the worst I've seen. He had absolutely no idea how to tackle Rashid.

Hoping Yorkshire win it purely because of that innings.

Trott would have played ODI's when he was selected originally but he failed in the prior 20/20 games against the West Indies.

Rudolph had a shocker, asking Hoggard to bowl the last over and then misinforming Bres where to run.

Seemed like neither side wanted to win, both had numerous chances to kill it. Exciting game though.

Only caught the end, good game though. Gotta say, disagree with 40-over cricket in principle, but I always enjoy the matches

Same here. A single innings seems to last just about enough time for the momentum to shift and players need to build innings rather than just thrash around. 2hrs30 seems to be an optimum tme for an innings.

Strange given what fantastic form he has been of late, looked great in FP trophy final even though he only got 30. Having said that I saw him play the worst one day innings I have ever seen a couple of years ago, cant remember who it was against now but it was jusy abysmal.
