Yep, I was thinking that myself. Missed a trick in not putting spinner on at the start of our Fred's innings. Always struggles against spin early on.

Ponting should have had Watson on earlier, not bring him on at a critical moment and then have to whip him back off again if it didn't go right straight away.

I'm wondering what possible situations there are where you could actually enjoy England being apparently on top without thinking "what if we lose three wickets in the next over?"

Actually agree with both of these.
Ultimately a player will be judged on his performance, yes, but Siddle's the sort of bowler who seems to make things happen one way or the other and is a big, uncomplicated-seeming whole-hearted lad. Which is why Fred is a good comparison.
Some players are just good to watch, regardless of output.

HUGE overreaction regarding Watto. Granted he hasn't bowled brilliantly and looks down on pace but he was only brought on after these two were well set with the ball 60+ overs old with two free flowing batsmen looking to hit out. Would have done better if he was given a go earlier. Settle down.

Swearing Aussies aside, I don't think Siddle will play ahead of Stuart Clark at Headingley. He's got the "Harmison dilemma", where when he bowls well he only takes one or two wickets without running through teams and when he bowls badly he's a complete liability. Today only tells part of the story, because everyone bowls badly sometimes. Much more telling was his spell to Graeme Swann on the fifth day at Cardiff when he was actually bowling fantastically, but all he did was hit him on the body a few times and leave it to Ben Hilfenhaus to get the guy out an hour later.
I do rate the guy, and he's a fantastic prospect. But with Clark and possibly Lee on the sidelines I don't think he's the best option for the Aussies at the moment.

Wasnt sure that people still advocate the 5-man-attcak in this day and age. Is that the reason for his selection or was he an 'opener' that had bowling as a bonus?
