Not having played a competitive game in ages might have something to do with it...
I'd hope so, though it really would worry me if someone as "grooved" as McDonald needed to keep bowling over and again in order to keep his lines right.

Nothing's out of the question with the Ashes on the line I reckon. Normal practices go right out the window.
Hughes is the one who is in real trouble imo, its imperative he scores some runs in the next innings now, because if he fails again, then it won't surrpise me at all if Watto replaces him in the next test.

I am thinking Watson in for Hughes is on the cards.
Clark has to play so it will be at the expense of johnson or siddle. Though if watson plays I think they will be able to carry Johnson.

Watson
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
North
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
Clark
Hilfenhaus

Hussey would open in that scenario, surely? Done it before and done it successfully. Watson's brief sojurn as opener at QLD wasn't an experiment I'd want to repeat with the Ashes on the line.

Anyway, another for Siddle now. Unless Johnson cleans up the tail could he be shown the door yet?

Such a strange Tour Match. Watson and Clark begging to be chosen. If Clark doesn't play the Third, it will be absolutely baffling.

Looks like selection for the 3rd test is going to be far from cut and dried for Australia. Nevertheless it would seem England are likely to help them a lot by playing Penisar

Not that unusual to see the batting mucked around in the second-innings of a tour game, is it?
Nah, but that it was McDonald and not say, Watson or North, is the surprise. Not many people really thought McDonald was a chance for the third Test but they seem intent on giving him another bat which is some indication that he might be in the mix.

Guess Watson has already had one good knock this game and North is clearly either going to be dropped or not regardless of this game, so I suppose McDonald is the only person in the line-up who might be able to use the time.

Even so, opening is odd.

I don't know how you lot feel about Siddle, but I feel better with him out the team. maybe that's similar to you lot being glad Harmison isn't there though, dunno
Don't blame you, Johnson is runs in the bank for you guys at the moment and Siddle is a threat on occasions. Not sure why they'd retain Johnson for the Third Test. I can only assume it's because they want to get 2 down and then come back and draw the series. It'll sell more DVD's.

I'm hoping I'm proven wrong and Johnson takes 15 wickets at Edgbaston. Unfortunately, on current form, he'd be lucky to hit the ground if he aimed at it.
