Has Mark Davies played any cricket this season at all? I was about to make a post whinging about the fact that he's not in this team, then I had a think and realised I couldn't remember him actually appearing in a CC game this season. He injured again?

He's playing for Durham today. But I think he's missed a numebr of games prior to that.

Can't see him bowling spiting cobras on day 1, would do well just to bowl accurately, and keeping things tight, at this point of the game, pretty interesting though that England have exposed their upcoming spinner in this tour game itself.

That's pretty much the standard of commentary all over the world nowadays, its something that the fans just have to live with,( even though its really annoying), I am sure the English fans have, pretty much the same thoughts about the Channel 9 commentary team.

I don't mind an attacking leg-spinner, but he doesn't really have a defensive style to fall back on. Just has to keep trying to take wickets.

Nah, he actually has four styles - the two you mention, as well as bowling reasonably economically and without threat and bowling reasonably economically and taking wickets.

And his action is totally different to how it was when I last saw it.

Some shoddy stuff in the field. The Lions doing their bit here to uphold English tradition by getting the opposition into strife before heaving all over themselves when there's a 50 partnership.

Edit: why is Mahmood still bowling? He's looked the worst of the 4 quicks by a street. Australia really should be trying to play him into Cardiff here.

Ridiculous dubbings of things like that as chances is one reason for the self-fulfilling prophecy of being unable to take first-chance averages seriously.
