Last Man Standing: 2013 AFL Season

Makes sense to me. Brumby put a similar rule in the footy one but obviously that rule wouldn't work with just 16 teams to choose from

Might have to start following a bit of AFL now that I've joined this
some body should help us out...the people with limited knowledge of the game ...have joined the NRL thing also...where can i find the ODDs of each weeks game ???

Agree with Smith, bit soft when people just pick against Melbourne & Richmond each week. In favour of not being able to tip against the bottom team more than once as well.

Why would you enter a tipping comp of a sport you have no idea about anyway? You're never going to be able to watch the sport, there's very little point to it.

If you can, watch the games BI.

Its a terrifically entertaining sport. Very viewer friendly.

And support the Richmond Tigers. We just fired our coach, so you won't be called a bandwagon jumper. :D

Chill out, Smith.

I believe it was this thread that opened my eyes to AFL. Love the game now; even if I do still know comparatively little about it and make n(b?)00bish comments on the game.

Reckon its probably below him. He'd only come back full time right?

I'm thinking David King interim, then either of Malthouse (he hasn't signed right?), Sheeds or a random young bloke like Hardwick.

It'll be interesting if they go young (ala Clarkson) or experienced (which they went with Wallace, and it obviously failed).

Just know that Melbourne are **** and their chardonay sipping MCC memebers don't show up. Yet even with their elitist roots don't have a decent rivalry with the working class clubs like Collingwood

I've been trying to work out who to support in AFL over the last... ooh, 12 months.

I had three thoughts.

Firstly, Collingwood. A mate at work is a die hard Collingwood fan and he's helped me understand some of the rules a bit more. Sadly, they seem like exactly the sort of club I don't want to support. Terribly frustrating. They have some great players, but have an amazing ability to throw away a winning position.

Secondly, West Coast. The club I've been playing for in Wellington are the Eagles, and the kit is in West Coast colours. However, there's no chance of me ever getting to Perth for a game, so what's the point.

Thirdly, Adelaide. Not sure why, but it seems that whenever I turn on the TV to watch the AFL, its either Adelaide or Hawthorn playing. I also like the fact that they're not a top team at the moment, but they're holding their own despite playing a number of young players that bodes well for the future. Sure, they're not going to be challenging for honours in the next couple of years, but they could be challenging in two/three years.

I think I'll go for Adelaide. They have a better kit than Collingwood (and are less unpopular) and there's a decent chance that I could occasionally go to a home game.
