Prior MOTM, Broad MOTS, though MOTS in a 2 match series is a bit of a joke
Thanks.

I expected Prior to get MOTM, his innings was incredibly entertaining. Can't say I expected Broad to get MOTS, but no-one really performed excellently in both games, so I guess giving it to Broad's fair enough. I do agree though, a MOTS award for what was in essence a 2 match series is a little bit silly. Broad won't be complaining about the extra cash though!

Must say, that performance by WI on this tour was just so disappointing. Not that they lost, but just their apparent lack of endeavour - hideous imo.

How much England get out of it is really questionable IMO, though winning form is always good form.

Yup. England bashed Bangladesh right before the 2005 series and it answered a few questions for them. For example;

"Why the **** did we not pick Pietersen again?"

It means that we won't be wondering about 3 of the places in the side until the squad for the 1st test is announced. Any call about who will bat at 3 and our 3rd seamer was always going to be marginal, so resolving those decisions now can't be a bad thing. The other choice - who to pick if Fred isn't fit - will have to wait, but at least that's the only position we're having to think about. Despite the best efforts of Ponting & Neilson to talk Harmy & Vaughan back into the side.

I was watching the highlights of yesterdays game just before and I noticed Stuart Broad was bowling at around 90-93mph. When did he get this extra speed, or is this just sky adding a few mph to his bowling speed.

I get this wierd feeling the Windies are suddenly going to get of their lazy a*****s and start taking names and producing huge games in the T20 WC. :dry:

I suspect the sky speedgun may be a bit on the optimistic side tbh. If Broad has put this extra pace on, though, it's probably because he's getting stronger and more experienced - he's only just finished growing, and has only been bowling for a few years.

I don't think it was a matter of the Speedgun exaggerating things, as Broad was noticably quicker than anyone else on the park, including Fidel Edwards. The speedgun at Lords in the Test match was out, with all the England bowlers bowling at 90mph+, but since then I'd say they've been pretty accurate in terms of relative pace of all the bowlers. Broad does look noticably quicker this summer, and he is rushing batsmen into playing their strokes, check the Sarwan dismissal in the 2nd ODi for real proof of this.

Still not as quick as Stuart Meaker.

He is actually. Meaker's top speed was 91mph when Surrey played on Sky the other week iirc. Had an average speed of 88mph. Broad's top was 93, not sure of his average. Meaker's had a few deliveries timed at quicker than Broad's best, but that was a year ago, and he's been injured since.

I don't hold much truck with the speed-gun, but it's certainly noticeable that Broad is getting it through half-a-yard quicker this summer. I didn't quite get him opening the bowling, but I think they've decided to use him as a strike bowler, rather then a McGrath type bowler that he was trying to be before, to which he wasn't remotely accurate enough for.

Still question marks against him, but if the others going for that place are Amjad Khan, Saj and Harmi, I'm all for Broad getting that role.

Yeah, more power to him. He is still a work in progress but at least there has been a progression.

He needed to add pace and he has.

You're just mad because I've faced someone in the nets that is a faster bowler then Broad. :laugh:
