Yeah, Ive had my doubts about Bopara but you cant criticize a guy for doing what he is supposed to. What does that mean for the Ashes? Probably nothing. But great to see a young player have success.

He was presented with a challenge at number 3 and has answered in the best possible way. He has more than justified his selection.
Shah got the same chances against the same mince attack on crap pitches and didn't take them.

Bopara's earned the entire Ashes at 3 IMO, unless something cataclysmic happens.

Been very pleased to see how Bopara has dealt with batting at number 3. I've said before that I believe he can be a real player for England in the top 4 for a number of years to come, but the real tests for him lie ahead.

He seems to have an abundance of time at the crease, and the width of his bat at times looks illegal! He has an excellent temperament, and a certain aura about him at the crease. It's a fine line between confidence and arrogance, but he certainly seems to have bags of belief in himself, and playing like he has recently, why shouldn't he?

Has been sunny here from about 4:30 onwards, oh well.

I think the odds (from the bookies) on England winning are rather long personally.

Watching some of the highlights of the first day last night I don't see anything special in Bopara. It's just something about his technique that doesn't look right. I can just see Johnson causing him a lot of trouble.

I disagree with that statement, I think Bopara is one of the better players in the England team. Watching him play is a real joy to watch, he just seems to be able to change gears very well. Although he has had a lot of luck this series, but that isn't a bad thing.

One of the best, I doubt that. Struass, Pieterson and Collingwood are all better batsmen. If Bopara is at three against Australia in the ashes I can see us ripping through the top order with ease. Cook hasn't looked that great either even though he has scored a century.

He is playing really well at the moment though, he would be in better form then Pieterson and Collingwood. If Bopara keeps playing the way he has over the last three test matches he should do just fine.

You have to remember it's against a weak West Indies team, on flat roads. And although he has done well to make the runs, playing in the Ashes will be a lot harder then this.

He has made all these 100's on flat pitches though, and the West Indies bowlers have been really bad.

The weather forecast disagrees.
The weather forecasts are useless. You could use two different sites and get contradictory predictions.

Like today, supposed to be horrible and it's bright sunshine and blue skies.

England are not a 2.3 to 1 shot and only half a day has been lost so far because it is made up on the remaining days.

Yeah, the forecast for London yesterday was 'heavy rain' and we got a full day in at the Oval. I almost didn't go.

Starting at 10.30 today are they? That'll mess Sky up a bit.

Nah still an 11 start. See how far we get therese a band of rain moving up but it looks like it might break up and just miss, biggest problem around lunch.

If they want to add half an hour perhaps the best way to do it might be to play 10.45 to 6.15, rather than tacking it all on at the end of the day when there are often issues with the light.

Looks good at the moment anyway.

LOL @ Nasser Hussain. He loves this rubbish about needing extra pace. What's worse are the names he provided: Harmison, Mahmood and......... Woakes =/ Makes me wonder whether Hussain actually watches Domestic cricket. Woakes is certainly not a genuine fast bowler, and I can't see how Mahmood or Harmison would make the attack stronger.
