Broad really needs to get a match ban to teach him a lesson, his habit of just celebrating and not appealing is annoying.

Well he appealed there. Just misunderstood the signal from the umpire, I think his team mates reaction probably also suggested that it had been given.

True in general though that he is bad for doing that.

Yes, GIMH made the point he's getting as bad as Monty. Terrible cricketing ettiquette, I'd be in favour of a ban too.:@

Yeah, stupid and presumptuous. Likely to get the umps off side too, which never helps when asking the question.

Scores level now anyway, didn't think we'd get here at one stage so fair play to Ramdin & Nash. Well organised little player, Nash. Can't help but think he might do better up the order than Simmons or even Smith too.

Watching Onions bowl today for the first time has been consistent with all the reports I'd heard of him beforehand...ie half decent when he gets it right but tends to bowl a lot of crap
Surely you meant to say 'tripe'

Don't really think Broad deserves these tailend wickets; think he's bowled pretty much rubbish in this Test despite everyone getting excited about his readings on the faulty speedgun.

Meh.

He's bowled poorly in the second-innings, but I thought he did okay in the first innings, better then Jimmy. Only one real tailender so far, unless your counting Ramdin. The speed-gun is poxy, but he's looked by far our quickest.

Nash deserves his 100, hope he gets it, can't see it though.

I think both bowlers were pretty poor in the first innings, but I actually think Jimmy looked more likely. That probably has more to do with the fact that I think he, unlike Broad, can actually bowl than the areas he was bowling, I guess, but still...
Plus, Anderson's been really good in the second dig. No doubt who's been the better of the two in the match IMO.

I'll freely admit that Broad was 'good' in the West Indies but he's bowled tripe in this game and shouldn't be getting the opportunity to bowl now. It's not like Anderson's going to be tired at the moment. I know I might sound like a ranting conspiracy theorist when I say this, but I've noticed Broad often seems to come on to bowl at the tail even when he hasn't bowled well beforehand in the innings and other bowlers are still fresh. It's not like he has attributes that make him particularly hard for tailenders to play, either.. it just seems like the England hierarchy have a vested interest in him getting good figures whether he deserves them or not.

Yeah, I meant that he's on now bowling to the tail; not that he's taken a stack of tailenders in the game.

Perhaps Jimmy should be bowling but I think your being slightly unreasonable here, as it was him (Broad) getting out Ramdin that led to it being the tail. The others couldn't get 'em out.

Anyway, well done Nash, had to go for it, unlucky.

Pity for Nash, but he's at least made us bat again.

Is Swann our best bowler currently? Can't be too often a humble offie was even worthy of consideration as such.

He must rate as the one that got away for big Dunc. Fletch always liked his multi-dimensional players and Swanny would've ticked more boxes for him than Monty you'd have thought.

Whatever he did on that tour to SA all those years back it must been bad.

Anderson didn't get to bowl during that partnership at all though! :p

Point taken though, fair enough I suppose. It's not the first time I've noticed it though; it seems to happen all the time with Broad. He usually fails to actually get the tail out when he's bowling though so it hasn't helped his figures very often.... :p

You're not going to let me get away with my blabbering rant without me admitting it was Anderson-fanboyism-based, are you? :p

Deserved better figures than he got in the West Indies though.
And Anderson did!?!

Yeah, I think Nash should bat at four....

It doesn't make sense playing these inexperienced youngsters at three, when Nash could do a better job there.

Simmons has always been a top-4 batsman though. I'd back him to have more success at 4 than 6, regardless of his experience levels.

I'd probably opt for dropping Smith, opening with Simmons and playing Deonarine at 6 (with Nash or Chanderpaul 4 and the other 5), though.

Well done England, :)not much too beat, but we couldn't do it two months ago.

MOM Swann for me, mainly coz he got Chanders twice, which is most of their batting, to be fair.

Onions and Bop must have a chance too.
