I'll hate whoever i want, for whatever reasons i want, thanks. Harbhajan Singh may have the same competitive streak as McGrath, but to my awareness he doesn't spend his spare time running a breast cancer awareness charity. Warney may be lacking in a few morals with regards to women but he's really quite funny and charming. Lehmann may have made a solitary racist comment once in his career but i don't remember him ever slapping his team-mates.
'Your Awareness' is the key word here. In our(Indian) culture, Any guy who takes care of his sisters when their father is no more and makes sure that they get a decent life speaks volume of someone's character. If that doesn't mean anything to you then it is your problem. He has his issues, but he has been punished for it

Basically, you're ignorant and full of ****. And i think it's ironic that you've called us out on double standards when you can make a post condemning racist cricketers despite spending all your time needlessly insulting Pakistani people.
Racist Cricketer ?? Let's not go there again, Please do back your claim or you will be called a LIAR. As for my comments of Pakistanis,it is well on record, I have said all in in the past and dont regret any of it.

Discussion is fine but everyone here is acting as if they know Harbhajan very well and are convinced that he's a terrible person. That's ridiculous.
Ahh, of course. Well it's akin to someone who you've only met twice but who acted like a complete asshole to you both times. You know you don't really know them well enough to make an informed judgement, but you'll still hold an opinion of them, intentionally or otherwise.

You can judge him however you wish- personally i know lots of people who look after their families well but are still undeniably ****s- i'd just prefer that you don't label other people's judgements as ignorant. That's all.

Not even that really, it's like driving by a fight scene, seeing one guy punching another and concluding that the aggressor is a terrible person without having any context or a real encounter with the guy.

Nah, following someone's career for ten years and watching them play cricket for hours and hours, listening to the opinions of other players and those who have met them, seeing how they behave in different situations and generally knowing a lot about their background is not the same as driving past them in the street.

Whatever it takes!!!

So have you heard of guys like Sidhu, Maninder Singh and Yuvraj Singh talk about Harbhajan? They are the ones who know him best...

Heck, even Ravi Shastri and Gavaskar have said a lot about how he is as a person.. I have chatted to him once and he came across as a genuinely friendly bloke... He has a quick temper and perhaps thinks a bit much of himself but then the same is probably true of Warney, whom I have talked to on 3 seperate occassions...

I think he is dumb to be acting the way he does most of the time but he is no way worse than a Ponting or a Symonds or a Hayden or a Warney for me...

Sure, I exaggerated but you get the point - how many first-hand negative opinions do you really have and how many situations have you observed them in? I can assure you that you don't know anywhere near a lot about his background. Oh yeah, watching them play cricket for hours and hours doesn't reveal that much about their character, values and integrity.

So who are these players that are offering their opinion on Bhajji ? Please do share it.

Sometimes a lot of these stories get floated are basically figment of imagination of certain people in the media and then they get repeated so many times that these stories become some sort of truth, you . For example, Take Javed Mianadad, it has been discussed to death that he was an ***** during his playing days and what not, but I was reading an article by either Gatting or Goodch (TBF Dont' really remember the name ) and I clearly remember reading about how everytime there was match in Karachi, he would invite players from visiting team to his home and treat them well,. This is completely different from he perception that is built by media or fans of him.

Is Bhajji worse than someone like Brett Lee who is known for sending down beamers over and over again ?

That's quite debateable, actually. Who isn't nice to their friends? For me it's how you treat everyone else that shows the type of person you are.

I don't care to sit and name every situation that's reflected badly on him because i can't be bothered. But i've never got any impression of him other than that of a ****. And i obviously might be wrong, but it's my opinion, and it's hardly an unreasonable one.

Once again, you are wrong. sidhu and Maninder aren't his friends. They are senior cricketers who happen to know Bhajji better than most.

It is unreasonable, if you form that kind of opinion about him and dont know much about him.

If we're going to argue from a greater "moral" perspective here, calling someone a monkey or saying "**** you" or being a general dick isn't quite as bad as repeatedly cheating on your wife (when you have two kids) and making it into a public embarrassment. Can't imagine what the poor woman must've gone through.

This gives me an idea - World Asshole XI:

Hayden
Slater
Ponting
Miandad
Clarke
Saleem Malik
Moin Khan
Harbhajan
Warne
Shoaib Chucktar
Waqar

May I know what Waqar, Miandad, Moin, Ponting, Hayden have done to be included in the above list ?

Waqar: ball-tampering
Miandad: really no need to explain with the Dawood. This guy is the biggest piece of crap in world cricket
Moin: just a general jackass
Hayden: i'm all christian but let me scream obscenities at the opposition oh lord.
Ponting: really now.

I dont have mind reading powers, but just that worse mistakes are ignored in case of some cricketers(Warne, Flintoff) and in some cases excuses are made (e.g. Slater Vs. Dravid , Mcgrath vs. Sarwan) and that is double standards.

I am sorry if I come across as a ****.

They said it was some kinda freak mistake. It happened with them ONCE. With Waqar and Akram, it was an every-match thing.
If I wanted to be as ridiculous as you, I could say they (Sachin and Dravid) got CAUGHT with it once but did it every match. 8-)

Yep - that's why all Indian bowlers have absurd banana-swings and no one else is able to do that. Also, let's not forget the allegations against Dravid and Tendulkar from the Kiwis and just about every other umpire/team that's played them.

Oh wait...

Oh loook, I'll go and get droonk in pooblic and goo oot on a pedaloo. That'll make me loook like the bast.. basi... pinnacle of reespectabilitee that I am.

Oooh. An' I'll get peeesed in pooblic and at t'up Prime Meeenister's hoose too.

How endearing.

Even if you don't buy into it, I can see why people wouldn't like him because of it.

Personally, I don't know (most) of these guys of the pitch, so I judge 'em on how much of a pillock they are on it. This means guys like Harbhajan, Hayden, Ponting, Clarke and Lee score some decent negative points.
