Looks like David Silva will be available for £15m since the club is in 'grave economic trouble'. Yes please.

As I was saying to Smith the other day on msn. If Valencia received a dollar for every article that mentioned them having to sell their star players for economic reasons in the last 18 months, they'd no longer be in financial difficulty. Don't think they've hocked off any of their bigger name players yet?

Fairly sure that's not true. The article I read said they'd have to sell him for whetever because they owed 15m in wages to players as well as however much else on their Stadium etc. They'd get 50+ for him from us, possibly more I reckon.

Sure do hope City can get him.

Depending on how this new takeover/ownership thing works out for Liverpool and how much cash they have (obv if Benitez is still in charge) then Liverpool would be the perfect move for him, given the amount of guys who speak Espanol.

Doubt they'd have enough to outbid us, Madrid and Barca, who are all likely to have a go at him.
Agree with this. If he wanted to play in the Prem, the only way he'd got to 'pool ahead of Citeh is if he was more interested in playing with his Spanish team-mates as opposed to getting large wads of cash. Madrid/Barca would have to be favourites though

You'd imagine he would rather play with p00l but it all depends on whether Valencia would accept 20-30m for him when they could get a blank cheque from Middle Eastlands.

I wouldn't rule out Juventus either in having a bid for Silva as a replacement for Pavel Nedved, but obv Real, Barca, and Citeh > money wise. That said, whilst I'm probably missing somebody obvious, I'm struggling to think of a Spanish player who went to Serie A recently, and did well. Inter had a Spanish lad a few years back by the name of Francisco (Javier) Farinos, but he was rubbish and is now running around for Hercules CF (awesome name) in the Spanish second division.

I reckon Silva will head to Italy if he does leave, probably Juve who need some serious width, especially when Nedved goes at the end of the year (if he even does).

Nedved must be up there with John Farnham in the amount of times he has claimed he will retire. Paolo Maldini as well.

Anyway here is an interesting stat for you, when Peter Peter Lovenkrands's goal for Newcastle against Man U, he broke Edwin van der Sar's tally of 1,311 minutes without conceding a a goal, 79 minutes short of Belgian Dany Verlinden formerly of Club Brugge, who went for 1,390 minutes without giving up a goal in the early 90's.

Not to Man Utd. Financially the most secure team around. Still huge profits despite paying off loans. Not to mention we bought Berbatov after allocating about £30m for Tevez too.

Key to whole issue. We might be in a better state then most clubs around the world. But the word is we can't afford three forwards of the wages and price of Berbatov, Rooney and Tevez. Apparently we have to sell someone to keep Tevez.
