And interestingly Benn is now extracting some turn. Hopefully Swann can do likewise, as that might well be our only chance of a result.

Mind, we might quite easily collapse for 400 now and waste the chance to force ourselves into the impregnable position that West Indies (Gayle specifically) had appeared to gift us on a plate.

BTW, a bit disappointed - given the imminence of the new-ball - Pietersen hasn't looked to take advantage of Nash more, given Ramdin is and has remained standing back.

That is why. Doesn't want to chance it and have a new batsman facing the new ball.

Anyone else get the feeling that Shah will have an opportunity at 3 in the next test, but if he doesn't make a good score in the second innings here or in that match Bell will back for the return series?

Interesting point. Being bowled out for 400-450 might make us more proactive. Will take any decisions about declarations and follow-ons out of the game and potentially (depending on how well we bowl/whether the ball swings) put us in a better position to force a win. This is opposed to us batting for two-and-a-half days, and giving the West Indies nothing to play for, meaning they only have to bat and not worry about scoring runs at any rate (ala. the last test).

OR Bopara scores runs and gets moved up the order when Flintoff comes back in?

BTW, not suggesting this is a good idea, just a potential scenario.

Possible I guess. Assuming Bopara scores some good runs in these final two tests then I'd be happy with:

Strauss
Cook
KP
Bopara
Collingwood
Prior
Flintoff
...

But I'd have to see Bopara make a hundred before being comfortable with that really.
