Nah Kato said he had an injury of some sorts, believe it might have been a side-strain, didn't sound too serious.

Crosthwaite surely has to replace Wade in the Fc team after making a century in the 2nd XI.

Pomersbach suspended

Seems very harsh, on the face of it.

Nothing new this with Pomersbach, and he and Marsh were earlier to suspended for indiscipline, both these blokes Marsh and Pomersbach seem to have all the talent one could hope for, but they certainly don't seem to have the focus or determination to make it to the top, good on Moody though for being strict on such matter, hopefully it would help Pomersbach change his perspective over the way they are handling his career currently.

He mate just died, give the guy a break. Poor form from the WACA to make him play the next day after his funeral.
Yup not saying he should have gone ahead and played, but at the end of the day he is a professional cricketer, and he should have atleast communicated with his team and told them about his unavailability.

Two sides of story, his side is that he was never communicated to and told he had to play. Maybe it was poor communication from there end. It seems like he just thought after getting released from the 2nd XI match they were happy for him to miss the grade game as well.

Agree with Tharmi, sometimes (on the very rare occasion), there are things more important than sport.

McGain took 2/86 bowling for Vic 2nd XI against ACT.
Bowled 31 overs, so that's good.

LOL at Buttersworth, he took 7/21 against QLD 2nd XI.

He is way too good for 2nd XI, but doesn't seem good enough for State Cricket really at this stage.

Yeah, he always plays ridiculously well in Second XI games. Double tons aplenty and awesome figures. It's part of the reason I've always had a bit of time for him - I don't think he's quite shown us his best at Shield level yet, other than ocassionally against NSW (quite annoyingly).

Butterworth has come across as rather average player to me, his 2nd XI exploits show, that there is some talent there, but his struggle in the state cricket arena show that he probably hasn't honed his skills enough to have any impact at the FC or List A level, or i guess its just a case of him just not being good enough, anyways i remember Ponting once saying Butterworth has got in him to play for Australia, so obviously he would have seen something in him, because Ponting has been pretty good at spotting talents.

Good to hear about McGain making a steady comeback, any chance he might get picked to represent the Vics in the T20 bash?

I haven't heard anything, but I think he is a good chance really as the spin options in the previous games D.Hussey & C.White are now with the National Team.

If there are no 2nd XI games that clash with T20 matches, I think he'll be in the squad.

McGain didn't bowl in the second innings, he must have got some sort of injury or is taking it slowly at the moment.

So how good is Pietersz? Is he a spin bowler? Had good second innings figures too.

McGain was named in the 12 for Saturday's 20/20.

Haha, nah. Pietersz played at Camberwell Magpies (my club) until last season, when he had to move interstate for work. He's played probably three or four 2nd XI games for Victoria before that, and was always a fantastic District bowler. Probably 31 or so now.

He's living in Launceston, and playing his cricket up there in the Launceston league; he couldn't be bothered going down to Hobart for training, playing etc. But he's been going that well, he got a call-up out of the blue.

But basically, everyone's thrilled because he's one of the best blokes ever. Talking to guys from other clubs, they used to refer to him as the best bloke in district cricket, and instead of planning for him at team meetings, they'd just tell all the young guys to make sure they have a chat to him after the game.

Strange that Justin Coetzee played as a specialist batsman today for Western Australia against Queensland even though he batted at 8 and Umar Gul was fancied before him. He was opening the bowling only a few weeks against South Africa.

Awesome display by Carseldine once again and some serious hitting from Nathan Reardon. Although, WA were cack, missed a number of chances and wicket-keeper, Ronchi couldn't catch a cold.
