God damn 20/20 is disapponting after a great test series.

Killer first over from Tait though, must be said. Fearsome stuff, action aside.

Ha, Udal in Sky's studio up here came out with "awkward" as the adjective for Tait's action. Hmm.
Well what's new about that, everytime a bloke bowls around or over 150 clicks, people just have to raise doubts over his action.

Tait's action has been queried before.

SA look weak at this form of the game. You need to have power openers and Gibbs rarely comes off - Kallis is a snail. Why is he playing T20? He was diabolical in the IPL.

Australia's bowlers are much quicker than SA's as well. Proteas didn't have anyone to really fire up the speed gun. I think Ntini is past limited overs as well. I thought they'd retired him from them.

Killer stuff from Warner ; made Steyn and Ntini look very ordinary. Not much from the rest of the Aussie batting.

Think Amla would be a reasonable bet. Duminy looked very good again.

It has. Something that does arouse suspicion is the fact that he can generate such pace after what is quite possibly the slowest run-up I've seen by any pace bowler.

No surprises to see South Africa fall short, they just don’t have the batting. Wonderful knock by JP though, could have been selfish and just played out for his ton considering the situation. Hashim should come in for Kallis at the Gabba. Jacques should just concentrate on getting 12 more test runs and trying to prolong his test career. I don't see how he and the likes of Ntini and Gibbs can survive a poor series here.
I don't think too much is wrong with the South African batting, they just need to fix a few things imo, i have a feeling Gibbs would get owned by Bracken right through this summer if he opens the batting, as Gibbs' weakness against the inswinging ball is well know, so Amla should be opening the batting with De Villiers imo, and Gibbs should be batting in the middle order, Kallis should bat at three and look to bat through the innings looking to play the sheet-anchor role, rather than trying to force the issue as he clearly isn't too good at that, and then they should also look to use a bloke like Albie Morkel as a floater.

Had fun, Warner was immense. Was fairly disappointed that the Aussies celebrated before checking to see if de Villiers was ok. He was half collapsed and none of the Aussies went up to him for quite some time.

Test crowd on Boxing Day was bigger as well by 2000

It was Daniel Vettori who first raised the doubts, and this is what Tait had to say in reply to it.

TBH, Tait generates all of his momentum in his last few strides of his run-up and that is something that exerts tremendous amount of strain over his body, and that's one of the reason why he has had so many injury problems over the years.

When was the last time we had a full over of 150+ in any format,
Certainly can't remember one in recent history. Saw Lee hit 150kph two or three times an over in the IPL but no more than that certainly. If Akhtar can get fit, perhaps he can pepper that 155kph area in the IPL.

Haha, since when is 180 ever an easy win in Twenty20 cricket?
Since Social decided to throw logic out the window, and bag out the Australian team, selectors, hierarchy etc. etc. at any possible opportunity, no matter how ridiculous it may sound.

Probably won't get a go soon, largely because you'd back any FC quick who moves the ball away from the bat to make mincemeat of that angled bat and swings across the line.

But geez, what a hitter. Only guy I can think of who hit the ball that well is Zulu.
In the longer stuff, very strong square of the wicket. It's not really the movement though; more getting the ball through at chest height without width. Thing is that, even playing normal cricket shots, he'll be 35 off 25 before you know it, and often there's not much you can do about it. Just changes games; when he's in something happens.

Same in the field, and with the ball. He bowls leggies, and they are not that great, but just has the ability to make something happen.

A very specialised skill in Twenty20 is the ability to come in at the 15th or so over mark with the field spread, and still manage to score boundaries. That's one thing that Crosthwaite is very good at for Victoria, getting a 25 not out at a strike rate of over 200. It's something that Australia has tended to struggle with, because all the players chosen tend to bat in the top 3 or 4 for their state side, or their game is best suited to that; rather than the ability to hit the ball sweetly from the get-go.

Anybody else notice the radar gun seemed to be giving unusually high speed readings tonight?..Maybe it was just the adrenaline due to the crowd etc, or maybe they can muck around with it to get higher readings when for some reason they want to ?

But all the seamers were according to the gun a good but quicker than usual tonight, Hilfenhaus was mid 140's and as quick as 147...whereas for Tasmania he always seems to be 133-139ish. Tait has been bowling in the mid 140's this year in FR Cup (admitedly he's been injured) and tonight he got upto 156. Ntini was regularly in the mid 140's which I havent seen from him in a fair while and even Tsotsobe who has been described as 'very medium pace' was hitting 139.

It must be noted that bowlers seem to almost all bowl 5-10kph quicker in T20 than in 50 over cricket.
