Haha, Hobart not even worthy of a mention, which is enough in itself.

Seriously lolled at the Yass line.

The Australian selectors need to get a sytem in place where the players on their way out are replaced with a new player from the domestic ranks at the peak of their form. If they had replaced Warne with Macgill 18 months ago and mcgrath with hilfenhaus after the ashes I have absolutley no doubt they would still be as dominant as they were/

Haha, yeah, because dropping Warne and McGrath would be brilliant ideas. 8-) The idea of playing MacGill ahead of either is laughable.

IIRC the quote was originally from The Gillies Report which was a political satire show in the 80s. In the show, Bob Hawke is asked something about Adelaide, and says "Stuff Adelaide. It's Yass with poofters", or some such thing.

Edit: have to say though, my favourite Central Western NSW town would have to be Young. Principally because there is an adult book shop in the main street which also sells pet supplies. Any community which gives rise to that combinatin i the one retail establishment is an inherently interesting yet disturbed place.

And no, the shop is not called "Heavy Petting".

Are Australia Officially Declining

After seeing Australia's recent tours of the west indies india and the early stages of new zealand are you now convinced they are declining ?

yes, however it's not as dramatic as it may seem, australia have been dominant in the last 10-12 years, but who else in the world has been any good in that time ? the gap is closing and australia just simply are not as good, but still the best in the world, it catches up with them a little but when they go from years of bashing trundlers to playing ashes '05 and india '08.

you will probably notice most australian players test records exceed their state records, so like an andy flower who was the world's number 1 batsman plays for SA and averages 26 (bearing in mind he was past his best) you can see why.

I think in two years time South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and England will all be better teams than australia. Just due to the fact that they all are improving and have younger teams with alot more domestic player depth than what Australia do now.
Look at the australian bowling attack and their career test averages:
Lee 30.44
Johnson 34.87
Clark 22.89
So the three main seamers one of them averages under 30 then you see south africa's:
Steyn 22.51
Morkel 32.87 (vastly improving as it was 42 not long ago)
Ntini 28.22
So the three main south africans are alot better stats wise than the australians. This is what convinces me my prediction will come true.

be interesting to see how steyn goes against the aussies, ntini has done well in the past but he's starting to get a bit long in the tooth, but so is clark really

how's this, kallis has 240 test wickets at 31, lee 299 at 30, who has made the most of their talent ?
