If Redmond fails on this tour, Nash's time as a selector will be up, is what he's saying.

Nash didn't select Redmond on his own though - why should only his selectorial spot be under pressure if Aaron Redmond doesn't perform?

Elliot? Gezz I would put money on Redmond picking up more wickets in a test match if he is also picked to bowl. Nash's time has to be up if he fails on this tour.
Boody hell, what was I on.

I ment if Elliott fails then Nash as a selector should be show the door. They picked Elliot over Fulton because he bowls but in a test bowling Redmond would be more effective so why not pick a specialist batsman and bowl Redmond/Ryder. That and I have never liked Nash.

Nash isn't the only selector though. If we showed selectors the door every time the person they picked failed against Aussie then we wouldn't have many people in the country left to choose from.

NZ will be playing their first test in Brisbane and selectors thought to field in Elliot as a replacement for Oram so that Elliot would be handful with both bat & ball. Its a good idea. I am not sure how much of Redmond's or Ryder's bowling will be used on the seamer friendly wicket.....

Elliott might well turn out to be a gun ODI player, he certainly showed class against England. Tests though, I'm doubtful.

Yep. you are right. I saw him in India playing in A matches. he was damn good bowler & batsman. His tight line will be helpful in some stages of a test match. But, a good handy bowler at present as we miss Oram

Thats the whole point, why are you singling Dion Nash out, when we have a selection board?

Beacuse every time I see Elliots name mentioned there seems to be a quote by Nash

"New Zealand's selector, Dion Nash, said that Elliott is a solid middle-order batsman and a good bowling option with his ability to swing the ball."

Do you agree that Elliots is a good bowling option? Also Hadlee is on his way out and that leaves Nash and Turner. If Elliot, Redmond and Flynn all fail on this tour do you think we should stick to the current selection board? Adams and Harris (20/20 wc) are another 2 stains on this panel.

Don't get me wrong, I really do hope they all go well and prove me wrong, I just think it's time someone above the players started taking some responsibility.

Quietly tipping Hilfenhaus to make the 1st Test squad.

Johnson, Watson, Lee and Clark haven't, as far as moving the ball is concerned, given anything much on the Indian tour. I think this will be a void that the selectors will be keen to fill. Hilfenhaus, with his ability to swing the ball and his barnstorming start to the season, will be viewed as the man to fill this vacuum.

Johnson, Lee, Watson and Clark have never swung the ball, so I don't know why this is suddenly becoming a talking point over in India (heard the commentators mention it yesterday)...I guess because they aren't doing well at the moment.

Lee used to swing the ball very early on with the BRAND new ball, but after about 3-4 overs he never swung it, ever (unless reverse).

I reckon Bollinger would get the nod over Hilfenhaus, if they wanted someone who could swing it.

Not talking about just swing though mate, I'm talking about movement. At present, the attack has a real sameness, a real gun-barrel straightness about it.

This tour will be the making or breaking of Ross Taylor. Really hope he can have a strong tour as I like the guy and think he is a great prospect. Could go on to greater things if he has a healthy two tests against the Aussies.

Ben Dorries wrote his usual crap saying stuff like "Have you heard of Aaron Redmond or Grant Elliot? No? Neither have we". His tripe also included that "New Zealand wouldn't beat a Brisbane Grade team" and sprouted even more crap that this Test in Brisbane will be lucky to last four days.

Can't find the article though.

To be completely honest, ask most New Zealanders who Peter Siddle and Bryce McGain are and you'll get the same response.

Well, Watson and Johnson have never moved the ball off the straight. I fully expect Lee and Clark (moreso Clark) to get a bit of seam movement once we get to Australia. It's Johnson and Lee's pace and bounce i'm worried about.
