Cricketing namesakes

International Captain
Mike Smith - name of several cricketers including 1960s England captain MJK.

Also an 80s TV and radio presenter, who may still be married to Blue Peter's Sarah Green. Seems to have gone to ground.

And if fictional characters are being allowed - and it seems that they are - Carl Hooper, as well as being an underachieving Windies batsman and skipper, was the presenter of 'That's Amazing!' on seminal 90s sketch show The Fast Show. May have just been a case of nicking the name though.

One more - Will Smith, sometime Fresh Prince and Man in Black and also Durham batsman (tipped as next year's captain)

Essex seamer Jahid Ahmed has an almost identical name to Exeter CC's Jahad Ahmed, pictured here 3rd from left back row:

Jack Russel - Former England wicket keeper or annoying yappy dog
And there was another "Jack" Russell in the England team in the 1920s, to boot. Neither was actually called Jack, the name was just a nickname (presumably because of the dog).

The 1920s batsman was Charles Albert George Russell; the 1990s wicketkeeper was Robert Charles Russell.

Not really a namesake as such but this guy got me laughing proper as he surely has the most number of famous cricketers included in his names ever.

I thought this might be the place to ask, does anyone know if the Paul Newman from the Daily Mail who featured on last Sunday's Cricket Writers on TV (as opposed to deceased Hollywood megastar) is the Derbyshire fast bowler from the 1980s?
