I disagree about Elliot. To me he looks like a decent test player rather than an ODI one. I would rather have him selected than Flynn who I believe is out of his depth being in the squad. Yes he put on that partnership but is he likely to just hang around for hours like he has shown or is he ever going to score well? To me he is just a slow player who will give away his wicket cheaply in the end. Elliot has the superior first-class record and can bowl all-right.

Flynn's still young and could develop into a nice low order scrapper. But as it stands I think there are more deserving batsmen who should be given a shot, like Broom and Nicol.

elliot will be a far superior ODI player as opposed to test.

He hast got the pace to be a decent bowling option in tests

I disagree about Flynn. While the jury is still out I think it is silly of you to write him off, and what you said just plainly isnt true.

The times he has made runs for NZ was when the situation needed him to guts it out and bat slowly. Had he gone in playing million dollar shots and got out and we had lost, how bad would it have looked?

From domestic cricket, and everything I have heard Flynn generally scores at a pretty quick rate. Apparently he has put a lot of his shots away so far in the test match arena so he can try to establish a base for himself, and go from there. I think if we see him get in in the first innings, he will start playing some shots.

Batting at six obviously doesnt help his cause either, due to the nature of NZ's batting, normally he comes in when we are trying to rebuild in innings. It would be great to see him come in with 300-350 on the board already.

The NZ domestic season hasn't even started yet, which is where he's going to try and get back to match form.

Is this now a bad time to tour Bangladesh?
Any time is a bad time to tour Bangladesh. They are one of the wetest countries in the world.

Forecast for Sunday and Monday in Dhaka:

Rain
100% chance of precipitation

I'm liking the chances of a result!

Did anyone else catch that article in the Herald today? Dylan Cleaver, I think it was, made a team of ex-test players who could conceivably be playing today - and backed them to beat the current team. Something like:

Spearman
Sinclair
Fleming*
Vincent
Styris
McMillan
Marshall +
Wiseman
Adams
Bond
Tuffey

Looks like a pretty good side tbh. Though don't think Fleming's inclusion is all that correct because he retired properly, while the others have gone to the ICL or trying their hand at CC.

Vincent should have the gloves as well.

Lol @ Fleming retired properly.

He retired prematurely due to him being sacked as test captain, and Bracewell being a ****.

But yes, Vincent should have the gloves..I've never recalled a time when Marshall has kept, Vincent did it both for Auckland at the BlackCaps at one point.
