Asia:

09.30, grp 1, Brisbane: Australia vs Qatar (Qatar unbeaten before this long away trip, which should be easy meat for Aussie football on the up.)
10.32, grp 1, Saitama: Japan vs Uzbekistan (conversely, Uzbek football are on the way down - epitomised by 0-3 by Kuruvchi to Adelaide - and with a loss here the Uzbeks are as good as out of the Cup.)
11.00, grp 2, Seoul: South Korea vs United Arab Emirates (UAE with two narrow losses, and unlikely to come out of East Asia with much. The Emirates have never beaten South Korea away from home.)
12.30, grp 2, Tehran: Iran vs North Korea (Iran have won the last five against North Korea, and never lost; they're also back on form after a dismal run in spring threatened to eliminate them. However, North Korea do top the group after a draw with South Korea.)

Europe:

15.00, grp 4, Moscow: Russia vs Finland
15.30, grp 3, Teplice: Czech Republic vs Slovenia (the recovery starts here for the Czechs, who trail by six points against the less fancied Slovenes - they're 7-1 with the bookies. A loss here would be critical for the Czechs, however.)
16.00, grp 2, Riga: Latvia vs Israel (Latvia's chance of keeping in the hunt for second - they've already dropped points against Greece at home and can't afford any more.)

Thursday 00.15, Santiago: Chile vs Argentina (Chile are top four, but look unlikely to defend that status. A loss here would bring the chasing pack awfully close, while Argentina could get considerable breathing room. Equally, a win for Chile would mean Argentina were back in the thick of things.)
Thursday 01.00, Puerto la Cruz: Venezuela vs Ecuador (both sides out of the top five - Venezuela embarrassed themselves by conceding three goals in twenty minutes against Brazil, and probably aren't World Cup
Thursday 01.00, Rio de Janeiro: Brazil vs Colombia (rather like Chile-Argentina, a match where the more fancied team should get a large cushion, but if they lose they will struggle.)

I hadnt heard about the violence at Bul vs Italy though. Good result though, as they were 9-1 to win the game.

16.00, grp 2, Riga: Latvia 1-1 Israel (a late equaliser from Vladimir Kolesnichenko kept some measure of respectability for the Latvians, who have taken one point from their two home games against two of the three strongest sides.)
16.00, grp 7, Kaunas: Lithuania 1-0 Faroe Islands (an early goal from Danilevičius, his third of the qualifying series, means Lithuania stutters on. Doubt they'll manage to double their points tally, which seems to be a minimum requirement.)
16.30, grp 8, Tbilisi: Georgia 0-0 Bulgaria (only the goalkeeper Georgi Petkov kept Bulgaria in the game, after Abu Dhabi Light Blues midfielder Martin Petrov hobbled off with a knee injury.)

In injury time, the referee correctly turned down a penalty shout against Elyounoussi and a free kick shout from 18 yards against Grindheim. Could see why Steulen is skeptical of Huntelaar, he was dire.)

18.00, grp 9, Reykjavík: Iceland 1-0 FYR Macedonia (Stabæk's Veigar Páll Gunnarsson scored after a free kick caused chaos in the Vardar-Macedonian box. Iceland jump to third, though all other teams have a game in hand on them - at present, this group is looking like a prime candidate for worst runner-up.)
18.15, grp 2, Luxembourg: Luxembourg 0-0 Moldova (Luxembourg refuse to acknowledge their perennial last-place status, fighting out a 0-0 draw.)
18.15, grp 5, Zenica: Bosnia and Hercegovina 4-1 Armenia (after the second demolition of a minnow, Bosnia have the second strongest goal difference in the group. Yet they're still fourth, trailing runners-up Turkey by two points, and are yet to play a resurgent Belgium (oxymoron alert).)
18.15, grp 6, Zagreb: Croatia 4-0 Andorra (the third goal put Croatia ahead of Ukraine on goal difference.)
18.30, grp 2, Pireas: Greece 1-2 Switzerland (a toothless Greece were outplayed by Switzerland, who earned their victory despite the setback of a 68th-minute equaliser. A fine setup of (N')Kufo ensured the winner, even though Greece had a meek header on goal in injury time. Earlier, Alexander Frei had netted a penalty given after Yourkas Seitaridhis had fouled Behrami.)
18.30, grp 3, Bratislava: Slovakia 2-1 Poland (Hooligans clashed with police before the game, though the hosts came through with credit despite Ebi Smolarek capitalising after he was played through on the empty net in the 70th minute. However, after miscommunication between Boruc and the Polish defenders, Sesták made it 1-1. A counter-attack followed Poland's kick-off, and after Sestak's shot had gone through the Polish pinball, it found its way to the net.)
18.30, grp 5, Tallinn: Estonia 0-0 Turkey (a hobbled Turkey were embarrassed, only managing to take over second place thanks to David Villa's freak strike.)
18.30, grp 6, Minsk: Belarus 1-3 England (an early Gerrard net - thanks to a limp goalie - was cancelled out by an equally limp marking effort on a cross, but in the second half England came through.)
18.30, grp 7, Wien: Austria 1-3 Serbia (Austria back to their pre-2008 form that caused an internet campaign to withdraw from their own European Championships. Three goals after 24 minutes helped put Serbia in a decent position to clinch top two. Austria are five points adrift and still have to go to Paris and Belgrade - their chances appear slim.)

18.45, grp 4, Mönchengladbach: Germany 1-0 Wales (the game came alive in the second half, with a number of hard strikes from Germany; a 25-yard blister into the far corner of the net from Piotr Trochowski gave Germany the win and a four-point cushion, and though Wales didn't embarrass themselves they go pointless from the game.)

Spain, England and the Netherlands are the only remaining teams with a perfect record.)

18.50, grp 8, Lecce: Italy 2-1 Montenegro (like Finland, Montenegro had the unfortunate experience of netting more goals than their opponents, yet finding the wrong net to lose the game. Despite Italian-residing Mirko Vučinić equalling club teammate Aquilani's early effort, Tanasijević - a Serb reared and raised in what is now the capital of Kosovo (nationality is fluid in the Balkans) - deflected Aquilani's second shot into his own net - though some sources give the goal to the Roma striker. A somewhat remarkable feat, as in 133 club appearances in the Russian Super League Tanasijević is yet to score.)

Paraguay are still goalless against Peru 45 minutes into the first half. In friendlies today, mildly remarkable results; Bahrain were toppled by European minnow Azerbaijan, while South Africa showed there is some quality in the side as they beat Ghana 2-1.

If it weren't for the crapness of the Qatar goalkeeper, and Quintana's terrible finishing, scoreline might have looked a little more respectable. That said, it was one of the better performances from the 'roos in recent times, especially in the final 3rd.

Watched the Belgium - Spain game and it should of been 2-2 as Fellaini had a goal incorrectly disallowed (he was judged to have been off side) IMO.

Good win from the aussies, though as stated if qatar could keep a ball on the ground we would have conceded at least 2

Their goal difference is still so weak that they rely on Mexico bucking the form book to beat Honduras, however.)
00.00, grp 1, La Habana: Cuba 2-1 Guatemala (an unknown youngster scored the winner for Cuba, leaving Gold Cup quarter-finalists Guatemala needing a win at 1,600 meters altitude in their final game to repeat their feat from 2006 and reach the last six. Trinidad and Tobago's result means Cuba are out regardless.)

Uruguay can be happy with a draw, those countries at high altitude are never easy to play in, would not be a horrible result. Hak, I can guess there a lot of calls to give Dunga the arse?
