First passage of play in the series I've actually been able to sit down and watch, and pretty damn gripping so far.

Australia clearly going for the philosophy that if they stand around propping and ****ing then they'll get one with their name on it before too long: half an hour of controlled aggression from Watson, Haddin and then White or Lee could push this up to 260 - anything beyond that tomorrow AM is a bonus and the whole game's there to play for.

Don't think Laxman even saw that - full face off the bat.

I hope all the 20/20 lovers are watching this, surely you can't think it better than Test cricket now??????????????

Competitive test cricket on any given day is better than any other ****ing format of the game, and anybody who thinks otherwise is just a dick looking for a quick fix.

Watson looking a lot better since he got set. I'll probably jinx him now, but he's such a confidence player that I really wouldn't read too much into how he goes in his first couple of tests here, or early in this innings. The guy has a great technique and he's actually a lot better at playing spin than he looks at first. Lovely late cut in the last over off Kumble, and he's starting to use his feet pretty well.

He's having a tough time against Harbhajan, but then again the pitch is playing quite a few tricks and every other batsman has had a hard time too.

I think based on this little cameo and his bowling he's had a solid return test match, even if he doesn't do much else. A start, if nothing else.

GSC was on the radio and he said he thought 20/20 had its place in the game, as long as people were following some form of cricket. He will be with the Aust team until the finish of the 2nd Test:)

Anyway, Australia will bat out tonight and the first hour or so tomorrow. That should get the lead to 300 or so, even without any major acceleration, assuming we don't get bowled out.

That should take an Indian win out of the picture and leave 5 hours or so of survival.

Australia's lead moves on to 246, India only have a chance to win this if Australia declare overnight and even then, it'll require a Sehwag masterclass.

I think him a better bowler then Steve Waugh when he (Waugh) was young, but like Waugh I think his batting will be is main chance to make a name in Test cricket ( not saying he will be as good as SRW)
