Seems likely that Sussex need to score 300 to stay up, in other words.

Thought there might have been more activity on here this afternoon. Several games now into their third innings already, meaning that there won't be (m)any draws.

Wainwright got a hundred at number 10! enabling Yorkshire to get maximum batting points. Not looking good for Kent.

And are Notts and Somerset both choking? Notts finding wickets hard to come by, Somerset losing two early on.

Next 24 hours will be enthralling I think, and for once the weather is playing ball.

Wainwright's century is remarkable, but I now fear he'll become Yorkshire's Stuart Broad.

I presume there is no thought that the weather will close in? Remarkable luck. I wonder how many times before the last Championship round has started after the equinox?

Don't remember first-class cricket ever being played this late, tbh. The 2004 Champions Trophy went almost up to the end of September - well, the final was on the 25th - but the domestic programme had finished by then.

Although, I read recently that in the 19th century it was not uncommon for matches to be played in October.

I've seen an Aboriginal tour be played in October, but that's about it.

Funny, given the 19th-century was woeful in weather terms compared to the 20th, that such a thing happened.

And I found this really interesting. Look at this photo without clues from badges on helmets etc. I think you could without too much difficulty think this was Inzamam-ul-Haq:

He was possibly the best I've ever seen at pulling deliveries from spinners that were just a fraction short. I suppose Tendulkar has always excelled at it too, but Patel's shape resembles Inzy's far more than SRT's.

Hants looking very solid here - the commentators keep talking about a target of 250, but I think it might be a few more than that. 140-2 at lunch.

Durham have got their last batting point, they might go on for a few overs after lunch to let Breese get his 100, but then I think a declaration will be imminent. No wickets for Kent this morning.
