Haha, or maybe this overhyped Sussex donkey actually suits the balance of the ENG ODI side better than Foster? and no Prior batted well the other day give credit where it is due.

Hampshire's first innings contained 5 ducks out of 11 batsmen. That's gotta be a record of some sort.
There have been a few sub-30 totals that must have had more than that, but certainly unusual for the modern era.

Somerset batting first against Worcs - too much to hope for a repeat performance from Tres for those of us who missed out last week I suppose.

And can anyone in the north-west say whether there's any chance of the Blackpool game ever starting?

Cant remember a much worse bowling lineup that Worcs have put out than the one out today. Just in time for Sky to show too. 8-)

Mason / Ali / Jones all injured. Asif hasnt done that great since he earned his contract either.

Andrew 'AJ' Harris doing a Kyle Hogg this year, playing for Worcs today having turned out recently for Gloucs. Don't know if he's played for Notts at all, or even if he's still on their books. I have trouble keeping up with all the Kolpaks, never mind the loan signings ...

Just a cameo from Trescothick today, but 138-2 is what I call maximising the first 15 overs.

Yeah, wow. And these two show no signs of slowing down.

I thought Worcs pulled that back reasonably well in the end. When Trescothick and Kieswetter were in full flow a total of 350+ looked likely, but they were restricted to 298 by canny bowling from Batty and Harris. Some of the fielding was pretty ordinary though.

Batty seemed confident of chasing this down - we'll see whether he's just talking a good game. Wouldn't mind seeing Hick make a few.

Arif you mean. :p Yeah Worcs is an extraordinary case - their best attack is easily the best in the country (Kabir Ali, Mason, Simon Jones, Imran Arif) but their second-string is possibly the worst (Whelan, Ahmed, Andrew, Jones). Two of those are imports from other counties who should never, ever have even been considered to play for a county for the SECOND time.

 Hogg hasn't played for Gloucs this year has he?

Certainly hasn't played a First-Class game.
I meant, playing for two or more counties - Hogg represented three last year IIRC.

I thought you'd be enjoying this match btw - Andrew and Turner both playing, and both getting tonked round the park. Great chase by the Royals, despite that daft run-out. How many runs do Somerset's batsman have to give their bowlers to defend?

Oh yeah, certainly Andrew and Turner, two of the worst bowlers ever to get contracts for 2 different counties, being smashed is good. Andrew had at least 2 catches put down mind, which sours it a bit.

Oh, they would - you know my thoughts on Taunton, hate the place, think A-list cricket (both four- and one-day) being played there damages the credibility of the English game.

But still, it's far more enjoyable seeing rubbish bowlers get smashed than good ones. Always very glad whenever Caddick doesn't play these days.

It's raining - with Worcestershire well ahead on D/L. Would you believe it? Probably not, if you're a Somerset supporter.

And you talk about Turner going round the park - he's "only" conceded 28 off 6. Somehow.
Regardless of how poor Turner is, the '"only"' is a bit out of place there. 28 off 6 is like conceding 3.5, 3.75 an over in an ODI, given the average run rate in the Pro40 this year has been close to 6. We're seeing bigger scores than in full 50-over games at the moment.

Haven't been watching the whole game - must have just seen one bad over then.

Wicket makes it very interesting - puts Worcs behind perhaps?

There have been a few put down in the outfield tonight. Two and four to finish the over keeps Worcester in the hunt, but 40 off five won't be easy. The 6 penalty runs might come into it though.

(last over has to start before 10.25)
