I just looked at the Hampshire-Somerset score. Has Dimitri Mascarenhas has been dropped from England? I'm pretty shocked with that, especially from the T20. I think he's one of our best players. And miles better than Bresnan!

I was under the impression he had performed fairly well this season and was talked about as a possible call up for ages.

Bresnan has developed as a bowler a fair amount this year. However, he shouldnt be close to an International call up.

He has a lot more work to do to be good enough or earn the selection.

He kinda retired himself when he choose to play for the ICL when he was left out of one of the English squads if memory serves me.

It was the IPL. And he didn't miss any England matches then, there weren't any on. And anyway, he's played since this summer against NZ.

Point being?

If Morgan thinks he is good enough to play Test cricket and regular ODIs then I have no problem with him trying to qualify for England.
Point was if the best quality cricket the next most developed cricket team after the 10 test nations can afford its best cricketers is a handful of largely unwatched and unlucrative ODIs and FC matches something seriuosly needs to change.

I agree with dropping Mascarenhas, in response to them not letting Kent play in the CL we should refuse to pick any IPL players

Yes, but that is hardly likely to change in the next two or three years while Eoin Morgan decides whether or not to qualify for England (I'm not exactly sure if he plans to). And Ireland aren't going to gain Test status in the foreseeable future, meaning that if Morgan wanted to play at the highest level he would still be seeking to play Test cricket for England.

Still think he's a better limited overs bowler and batsman than Bresnan. And arguably Luke Wright too.
I would say that he is easily better than both Tim Bresnan and Luke Wright, as his career figures show. A far more consistent performer than either of the other two.

I guess it's in here we should post about the Eng V Scotland game?

Good start for the Scots with the bat, 10-2, Bresnan has 1-2 from 2 overs, the other wicket a run out

I haven't seen Patel for a while, but I have been championing him for sometime now (in the Test arena though). I've been slated by many, many using, 'he's too fat' as an excuse for him not to be selected. How is he looking? Rotund (Boon-like)? Big-boned (Flintoff-like)? Solid (G.Smith-like)?

The England line-up today, btw:

IR Bell
MJ Prior
OA Shah
KP Pietersen
A Flintoff
RS Bopara
LJ Wright
SR Patel
TT Bresnan
SCJ Broad
JM Anderson

ITSTL that a specialist Test bat bats at 10 in an ODI, that is if cricinfo have listed them in correct batting order. Wonder if this side is an experiment, a joke or the side they actually intend to field against the Saffies?

Obviously Colly will come in when his ban his up, hopefully in place of Wright and with a rejigged order
