If it's any consolation, I was born in the year the Beatles had their first Number One. I don't remember what I was doing when JFK was shot though, as I was almost certainly in a pram or a cot at the time.

Although, as this is in CC, a more relevant reference would be the first day of a two day match between NSW Country XI and MCC (Dexter's tour) at Tamworth.

Well said, Goughy. Then Richard comments that he was only 3 years old at the time, but sees fit to describe 1985 as better; when presumably, he was -1 at the time!! Good stuff.
I didn't describe '85 as better (other than the fact it was the year of my birth) - simply that there's more songs from '85 that I like than songs from '89. Far, far more. I wasn't around for the revolutionary qualities of '89, so I can only appreciate the quality of the songs in hindsight.

And '85 >>>>>>>>> '89 as far as songs I like are concerned. The above list is just the tip of the iceberg.

Most people in our age-group have been thought to be older by any number of people any number of times. That's how cricket forums work.

'Tis why I try to find-out how old approximately someone is sooner rather than later these days. So easy to think someone of 16-22 is so much older if they're good-quality (which of course most of us lot are ).
