Round 8 players drafted
Davistow, Morkambe and Nixonstown reach 10 players
Garven Island Turistas
The Green contingent at Davistow grows stronger with the arrival of legspinner Paddy Gundry. A promising talent in the one-day game, Gundry is not always an economical bowler, but boasts a healthy strike rate. In the longer form he has also shown promise with the bat, playing bold strokes and scoring quickly. If everything comes together, Rose could have a star on his hands.
Signing/s: PG Gundry
Davistow Dazzlers
Young and unproven Tom Delonge will take his first steps into CW cricket for the Dazzlers. Delonge is yet to sign with a team, but is a product of the Nixonstown Academy and comes with big claims of a sharp technique and energetic fielding. All the small things in his game suggest a player of much greater prestige, even at 17. The unofficial word from captain Kingsley Clapham is that he should act his age.
Signing/s: T Delonge
Fardingham ****atoos
Gaurav Nayak joins incumbent teammates David Kearsley and Rob Dauth at Fardingham. The allrounder is presently a free agent, but made his name as a big hitting batsman and useful seam bowler at CW Red. Nayak is the consummate bits and pieces player, perfect for T20.
Signing/s: GN Nayak
Morkambe Mathemagicians
Like Delonge at Davistow, Morgan Burridge is yet to play any form of Dev League cricket and is set to make T20 his initial calling card. Another Academy graduate, Burridge dominated youth cricket for the grade club Foxes.
Signing/s: MC Burridge
West Rob(b)ham Rabid Wolves
The Wolves receive a huge boost to the top order with the arrival of CW Green Ben Read. The budding star has piled on runs in one-day cricket recently and is called by the some the heir to Andrew Cloete's prolific throne for CW XI. Read has been somewhat typecast as an OD specialist at CW Green, but that would only serve as reassurance to Kev Gough of his T20 potential.
Signing/s: BS Read
East Rob(b)ham Upper Body
Teenager Jay Gonzalez is the latest addition to Upper Body. CW Green rarely played the young man, as stories of his hardcore partying stole the headlines and he was inconsistent in attending training sessions. But Gonzalez did enough in his few appearances to suggest that he could be a player of some impressive stature in the future.
Signing/s: JP Gonzalez
Nixonstown Ninjas
Greg Thomas should be thrilled as he welcomes the experienced Andy Cameron and Gareth Gooljar to his ranks. Cameron is the bowler who almost was, when he was called up to the CW XI World Cup squad after an exciting early season. Since then he has struggled in both forms of the game, but is still young and raw and Thomas may be an ideal mentor. Gareth Gooljar has endured similar frustration in his career to date. Gooljar was only of the earliest players in the Dev League and has become the archetypal CW journeyman. With his enthusiastic legspin and bubbly attitude, Gooljar has played for just about everyone in the Dev League without ever emerging from anonymity. He remains one of the most liked players around, and will hopefully get a chance to shine at his latest team.
Signing/s: AA Cameron, GS Gooljar
