*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

Frankly Tevez ruined what was a decent final by being a **** in the events that led up to Drogba's sending off (who was an idiot himself, can't go slapping players, jeez), that whole rucus was caused by Tevez being a moron.

Terry desperately unlucky. Anelka obviously didn't see the 'where not to place penalties diagram' i drew in this thread earlier in the season.
Disagree. Over-reaction from both sides, imo. Chelsea had already done the same thing about twice, thrice? Tevez was obviously being a **** by calling his team-mates to mark the throw-in recepients, but Chelsea really were in no place to be incensed.

Congrats to Man Utd.

I find it funny that a team like Aston Villa and a certain team from Nottingham have more European Cups then what Chelsea has.

It was a surprisingly decent game for the semi-neutral. Fair play to JT for having the knackers to take that pen, but Englismen & penalties? Bad mix.

ManUre probably just shaded it over the 120 mins, so justice was served I suppose.
Reckon he would of got it for mine had it not been raining as heavily as it was. Very unlucky. But on the flip side I really hope Didier Drogba is put on the transfer list. He is a deadset disgrace and his antics probably cost his team the final. He has been making noises about wanting to leave, well if I was Avram Grant I would tell him to '**** off' then.

Good player even if he doesn't command much respect.

I can't believe Grant took Cole off for Anelka. Worst substitution I've seen in a long time. Cole was just beginning to have an impact on the game, whereas Ballack was piss poor all night, and Drogba only did two things in the match, out of which one was getting sent off.
Agreed, he kept wasting good positions by going for glory and not coming close, the big reason why Chelsea's pointing to shots on goal saying they dominated is meaningless.

Big one I thought was Essien at right back. He is a beast in midfield and he is wasted at right back. Where Fergie got it spot on was playing Ronaldo wide left, and Grant did not think to change this (yes Essien was better second half but still got exposed a couple of times).

(cheers JT for holding back Vidic, he WOULD'VE murdered Drogba).
Haha yes, tbh I thought Vidic would see red, with the way the ref seemed to be dealing the cards out.

I thought the ref was poor incidentally, and it was fortunate that none of his multitude of poor decisions really affected the game. Lots of little decisions (corner/goal kick for instance) seemed to go the wrong way and I won't pretend that we didn't have the better of this.

Anelka did **** all during the time he was on.
Done **** all since he's been at Chelsea in fact. I didn't get the random Anelka love at the time going on about how good a signing he'd be, he was obviously never going to fit in the same side as Drogba in a 4-3-3 and they don't play 4-4-2, seemingly at all.

Much as I despise Ashley Cole, I thought he had a very good game last night.

Think both teams would have been worthy winners on last nights display tbh, would have been the mother of all cruel ironies if Man Utd had lost on the Ronaldo missed pen.

Though he didnt play very well last night I can see why Anelka was brought on, Joe Cole looked knackered, Chelsea needed to bring on someone to add something to the attack, and there was no way that they were going to use Shevchenko in this sort of match. Though it would probably have made more sense to bring on SWP to run at a tiring Wes Brown.

And on previous occasions (i.e against Arsenal) Anelka has come on and made a big impact, so I can see why he was used.

Drogba was surely a banker for penalties, but what a ****ing idiot. Best team in Europe won the European Cup tbf, great game as well, feel for JT though who I like

Didn't they go 4-4-2 against Arsenal though? I've only seen brief highlights of that match, so I may be wrong.

On this occasion Anelka was out wide, if he needed someone to play out wide, Anelka isn't that, should have been a genuine winger, such as SWP IMO.

feel slightly sorry for JT, only slightly, because 1) he's a bit of a yob, 2) he is paid one hell of a lot for what he does, and as a professional on the amount he is paid, kicking the ball into a net from 18 yards shouldnt pose much of a problem (granted he slipped).

Obviously it must be a pretty heartbreaking thing to have to go through, but if I were him, the fact that I was earning in excess of £100k a week would soften the blow.

Yeah true, Anelka came on against Arsenal up front and made his impact by heading down long balls, probably how he should have been used yesterday.

Yeah, he did look class at times last night, hateful little turd that he is. Massive compliment to him that Ronaldo was played wide left to keep him away from Cashley's clutches.

Him not getting a winner's medal the highlight of the night tho, clearly.

haha indeed, that was the best part of the night for me personally, one of the few reasons I actually wanted Man Utd to win rather than watch the game as a neutral tbh.

Key words being "at times". He did look good at times, at times Hargreaves had the better of him first half however IMO.

Dunno tbh, was probably the best I have seen him play since Euro 2004, actually managed to get forward a fair bit, and look threatening when he did, defended pretty well also, that said, I thought there were hardly any players on either side who had a poor game tbh. Granted Essien looked dead dodgy in the first half, but he came into the game a lot more in the second. Mind you, that said Drogba was pretty ineffective, though that was probably more through Vidic dominating him rather than him playing badly.

Agree that Cole was very good, this raises questions as to his motivation IMO, I remember plenty of big performances in big games for England, but a lot of the smaller games since 04 I have wondered where he was.

Cole was pretty solid in the WC IMO, but has been gone missing alot during EURO qualification, but still remains England's best @ LB. Fail to see the why their is so much Cole hate on this website i hope its not because he a black man with a fantastic white girl...

Anyway brilliant game didn't see that dramatic 99 final live so this was good viewing, all the English players had solid games last evening which argues well for the future of the national side. Really hope this All-English final marks the start of some kind of dominance in Europe by English teams as well.

Big season for Chelsea coming up they need to do win the premiership or the CL or else i fear a few big players leaving.
