***Official*** IPL match discussion thread

Whatever it takes!!!
He is good enough to be in the Indian test squad, good enough for the Indian T20 squad but not good enough for the format in between???Pretty strange if you ask me.

IPL may be 20/20 but form is form. For me he is in form and should walk into the ODI squad.
The thing is... he seems confused on how to play beyond the 10th or 20th or you know, juz the non-powerplay overs. Maybe that is why he is good enough for both Tests and T20s but not good enough for the format in between.

Sehwag's record in ODIs speaks for himself really. He doesn't know how to play that format to the quality that the Indian ODI team wants.

Hmm picking Dwayne Smith ahead of Nel does strengthen our batting and perimeter fielding but relying on Yeligati and Chitnis for overs could burn us in the end.

Ah well, C'moooooooonnnn the Indians! Pumped for the double header tonight.

Hmm Indians look like they're a bowler short.
At least one bowler short. We can get 12 out of Polly, Nehra and Fernando, but then need another 8 out of the not so inspiring lineup of Sanath, Smith, Yeligati and Chitnis. Would've definitely loved Nel in the lineup.

IMO Pathan's techinque is pretty suspect against the moving ball. See him against Mumbai where Nehra and Co. swing the ball.
Unless he starts bowling medium pace like his brother or Sachin is retiring from ODI Cricket or Yuvraj Singh''s girlfriend woes continue, he wont make the playing 11.

1. Gautam Gambhir
2. Virendra Sehwag
3. Rohit Sharma
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Yuvraj Singh
6. MS Dhoni
7. Irfan Pathan
8. Harbhajan Singh
9. Zaheer Khan
10. R.P Singh / Ashish Nehra
11. Ishant Sharma

Bhajji has a 5 match ban, so either Chawla or Mishra get a look in if its a turning pitch, else they will play an extra pacer and Sehwag/Yuvraj/Tendulkar make up for the spin.
Nope...ODI team should depend a little bit on IPL performances...But that's it ...a little bit...The line-up should be

V. Sehwag
S. Tendulkar
G. Gambhir
R. Sharma
Y. Singh
M. Dhoni
I. Pathan
P. Chawla
Z. Khan
R.P. Singh
I. Sharma

And Y. Pathan, A. Mishra, S. Sreesanth and one among R. Uthappa/S. Raina/S. Badrinath/S. Dhawan/M. Tiwary should also make the 15 member squad...

ok...first of all, no, you didn't step on my tail... I juz find the irony of u calling ANYONE a dunderhead a little too hilarious... BTW, it juz wont be a ret post if it doesnt have a meaningless  smiley anyways...... 8-)

And secondly, if you dont watch the game, why the hell are you questioning others who are watching the game and the info they are giving? And of course commenting on games that you dont even watch shows how much you understand the game.... Talk about Dravid's meaningless knocks..... if you didn't watch it, how the hell do you know?

And yes, I do have a problem with you thinking Dravid is a dunderhead, esp. given the fact that he has been an international cricket captain and you can't even lick his shoes... And since the context here is cricket discussion, of course I think he knows a hell lot more than you or your  smileys......
haha, whats more ironic me calling someone a dunderhead .... or a dunderhead writing without comprehending stuff and then resorting to personal abuses

did I Q anyone giving me the info .... i merely said that i couldn't find the info

so are you posting to tell me that Dravid knows more abt cricket than i do lol .... very smart indeed .... thanks for enlightening me on that 8-)

your above post only sums up your mentality and the fact that why ppl like you increase the DQ of the forum

cant we analyze Uthappa's batting against chennai in chennai? And hold on, 9 off 11 is bad???? I wonder about some of the T20 champ Ganguly's innings in the IPL......

But then again, if it's not good enough for ret, who are we to argue? 8-)

this is heights of dumbness .... do you actually read the whole thread before replying too or are you just merely picking out my posts and replying to it

u mean the middle order collapses and juz about falling over the line chasing a very easy target after a great start?
if you know your cricket then you should know that a 5 wkt win with 10 balls to spare is a comprehensive victory :clown:

How good has Marsh been? Has failed just once in the whole tournament. Off the top of my head the XI for the tournament would have to be:

Marsh
Gambhir
Sehwag
Sharma
Watson
Sangakkara (wk)
Pollock
Maharoof
Warne (c)
Tanvir
McGrath

Not sure about the wicketkeeper, there might have been a homegrown player that has done better. Gilchrist had that one good knock, but hasn't done a whole lot besides that.

Tendulkar is so cool .... imp stage for the game, Uthappa runs him out, he smiles in the end and gestures Uthappa to stay till the end and finish it off :)

29 to get of 16

**** off Uthappa. Eating up all those deliveries did this.

Can't believe we're throwing this one away. Only Polly can save us now.

EDIT: meant Pinal. And now Robin throws it all away. **** this!

Polly was out a bit back. You are probably getting delayed telecast duffer. Uthappa gone now. From a position where it looked Mumbai will win easily, they have made a mess of it.

Uthappa not only sold Tendulkar, he played out a few deliveries and got out himself. Ridiculous stuff from him. I'd be pissed if I was Tendulkar.
